#CovidStories is a new MANI series where we interview people whose lives have been impacted by this pandemic.

I am better now but the first week of the lock-down was hell. I got married the day the lock-down was supposed to start in a very small ceremony (less than 20 persons). I was paranoid, I avoided everyone like a plague. At night I couldn’t sleep , I felt hot and choked at the same time. I was panicking. I kept feeling like there was something in my throat. My husband kept reassuring, we finally went to the Doctor’s. They told me I was having anxiety issues and I needed to sleep, exercise and calm down, nothing is in my throat. It was hard till I spoke with my sister, who seemed to be facing similar symptoms. We shared experiences and then I realized that it was all in our head. I started to stay away from the crazy news about deaths, sleep more, exercise and then control my thoughts. I am way better now, Alihamdulillahi.
