I Got Blocked On My First Day On X and I Loved How They Solved the Issue
I got too excited about starting on X …— and they gave me back my access in an amazing way
The old Twitter was never very appealing to me. I didn’t understand the need to share “what I was thinking” with strangers.
I used to think that Twitter was for pure gossip, news, and vanities. And maybe it was in the past, I don’t know — I wasn’t there haha!
Now I’m SO excited to be on X, that I posted and engaged too much too fast with other accounts, that I got blocked on my first day (LOL) — this story is good, don’t skip it.
The Medium Effect
This year I’ve read dozens of posts here on Medium of people saying that most of their audiences and sales come from the rebranded X, and I got curious.
“Why are all these people there? What are they even doing there? Should I be there too?” — I thought, with the little furry FOMO as my sidekick.
I admit that the fact of seeing successful, smart, and wealthy people swearing at the benefits of being on the new X with an entrepreneurial mindset made me decide to try it out.
So here I am! The newest X user. (This is me!)
I Got Blocked On My First Day On X
Yep. But not only that.
I found a way to get blocked on my first HOUR using the app. Seriously, I never imagined this would happen.
I’m experienced with other social media, and I know a lot about marketing strategies and content creation, so I did what I thought was obvious: create content and engage.
I don’t know exactly what I did to make that happen… maybe I was posting and engaging too quickly? It was my first day, I was just figuring everything out.
The point is, I created 1 tweet, answered to 2 threads, followed 25 accounts, and liked around 10 posts. Then I got blocked for suspicious behavior.
I got nervous, of course. But the problem was solved in an amazing way: by taking a test (that’s more like a game) to make sure I was human.

They changed the way the old (boring and hard-to-read) recaptcha works! — sometimes even I question myself if I’m truly human, after failing in those old recaptchas. Am I the only one?
Oh, and after I completed the “test”, there was a new message congratulating me for being human. (Yay!) And that was it. Access was granted again.
Isn’t this something? Haha!
Well, at first, I got angry about it. But eventually, I understood that they make this test as an attempt to make the platform spam-free for a better environment for all, and I respect that.
After proving that I’m an actual human being and by not acting suspiciously anymore, X started building trust in my account, and, possibly, that “test” won’t be needed in the future.
Now I’m going to try to engage more slowly (I think I was really doing everything too robot-like fast), and post at different times of the day.
My First Impressions of X as a New User
I must say… What Mr. Musk did to X is truly impressive.
X has the essence of the old birdie way of consuming content, but there are many, many interesting ways of creating content that I’ve never seen in any other place (like adding multiple formats at the same time in one single post, for example).
Also, there are new features and monetization possibilities that, for me, are genial (such as sharing ad revenue and paying per post — a premium feature, but still, a nice one).
The spam filter made me a bit angry, sure, since I got blocked unfairly. But the issue was resolved in such a gracious way, that it’s okay now, I guess.
Well, for my first impressions, X has surprised me a lot with its innovative features and possibilities, and I’m thrilled about this new adventure.
What about you? Have you explored the new X? Have you ever been blocked there? Haha! Share your thoughts in the comments below — I can’t wait to hear about your experiences and insights!
