I Got a Top Writer Badge In Writing After Just Two Months of Writing on Medium…
Here’s how you can get one as well…
Wow! I’m stunned. I took a short break from Medium, and I came back to see so many amazing things. One of those things which absolutely shocked me was a Top Writer Badge. What was even more shocking was that the top writer badge I earned was on the topic of Writing!
I never in a million years would have seen myself as a top writer on Medium, and definitely not after only two months! I earned my top writer badge, according to Medium, because I’m “popular with the readers,” you guys! I am beyond thankful and thrilled so in return for this amazing achievement, I will be telling you how I achieved this in so little time.
What Is A Top Writer Badge?
To be brief with it, a top writer badge is simply what it means. You earn a “badge” from Medium deeming you one of the top writers in a certain category. These “categories” are a few hand-picked tags that are popular on Medium including Writing, Technology, and Politics.
How You Can Get a Top Writer Badge
As you can see per the above image, I had absolutely no articles go viral, my highest viewed article in writing was not curated and didn’t even reach 500 views. However, views are not how to get the top writer badge. Yes, sometimes views will get you there, but definitely not all of the time.
To get a top writer badge in any category, there is the same process. For this reason, I will provide you with three tips that should hopefully get you a top writer badge in no time!
Write A Lot!
As you can see, I clearly did not have very many views for my articles in the Writing tag. In fact, I barely had any compared to some of the top writers in the category such as writing legends Tim Denning, Shannon Ashley, Zulie Rane(amazing for writing advice), and Tom Kuegler.
If you write frequently, you are bound to be rewarded for it. Even if it's not a top writer badge, it will show itself in some other way, shape, or form, and that is a promise from me to you! I always suggest writing in quantity since it always yields results, and it did so once again for me when I earned a top writer badge.
Write A Lot About The Category You’re Aiming For
As I said before, the writing category is one of many categories in which you can earn a top writer badge. If you want to earn a top writer badge, try and think of a topic in which you want to get it. Then, once you’ve gotten that in mind, start writing a lot for that topic and in quantity.
Don’t say that you want a top writer badge in writing and then start writing about technology and science. Start writing a lot in writing instead!
Build An Audience and Get Good Engagement
An audience can really help you out! Readers are kind of what decides if the Medium gods and the Medium algorithm enjoy your writing. Readers can also help you get a top writer badge. If readers give you lots of claps and give you a lot of engagement, you will be quite successful on the platform.
