I Gave Up Alcohol For Lent And Didn’t Know It. The day after Valentine’s Day, my partner and I had our Valentine’s Date. We shared a glass of fantastic Moscato and had a nice lunch at a local cafe. Then we walked around the town and had a grand time.

That was the last time I had a drink for the next five weeks. By the end of the fifth week, I realized what I did, and I purposely didn’t drink until after Easter.

I’m not Catholic, but I like the challenge of going forty days without something. So when I realized I accidentally gave up alcohol for Lent, I had to finish on principle.

I’m not mad about it either. I could take a break from alcohol and focus on other things going on in my life.
