I Gain 100 Followers Monthly But I Really Want 100 Readers Daily.
Are these my secrets?

I joined Medium November 2022. I have gained 100 followers per month. I want to be proud of myself…
But as a near daily reader on Medium, I have noticed that writers with thousands of followers don’t exactly have:
- high “claps” to signify that people read and maybe found their piece interesting
- many commenters
- many people highlighting what stood out to them.
- Thoughtfully written comments.
Gun to my head and you ask me how I have gained 100 followers monthly, I will sincerely tell you:
- I read minimum of 10 Medium articles a day (except on the weekends).
- I give priority to people I follow, articles with good Titles and I try to read from different publications.
- I highlight what stood out to me
- I comment and I am sincere in my comments.
- I give at least 10 claps.
- I respond to comments/commenters
- I follow people that I like (and no, I do not ask for follow backs)
- I write and post almost daily (except on the weekends)
- I write for different publications.
If there is anything else I do to make this happen, I cannot tell you.
(Please don’t pull the trigger).

Does my Title suggest that I do not like or care for my follower count?
Nope. It is a good ego boost at the very least.
But,
I look at my backend and I really want a lot more daily readers than followers.
Because?
- I think I am that cool.
- I enjoy writing to YOU- my friend.
- I want us to engage on my topic or yours.
- I want to write all my life and if YOU read consistently, I will be encouraged to write consistently.
So please,
Follow me but, I do not want to be a Medium writer with thousands of followers and few article engagements.
I aspire to have more engagements than I have followers.
A couple of years ago, I would have been ashamed to be this ‘free/open’ in public but then, I am writing to YOU.
YOU are my diary. And I love our intimacy- if you show up.
Cos I am always here.
Am I weird for wanting YOU to engage more or is that your desire too?
Thank you for reading. Buy me coffee?
