I Found The Best Content Creation Model For Writer

More time for you to write better stories

Saving time won’t make you more of it.

What will make your time worth it is investing it into dedicated tasks.

What do I mean by that?

The Need For Order

One of the most common things I see people struggle with is managing their time to create.

Let’s face it.

We all live pretty busy lives outside of Medium.

I’ve been blessed with good fortune that the winter holidays hit and I had time to publish 3 Articles Daily for a week straight.

Which resulted in some of my biggest growth in a long long while

See the stats for December so far +134 followers. YEY :)

This time in the holiday season, with the new year approaching fast gave me time to reflect on 2 things

  • The need to grow on social media (More on that in another story)
  • The need for order.

A structure that allows me to create without the need to spend 4 hours or more.

What do I have come up with?

My plan focuses on 2 things:

  • Maintaining creativity
  • Consistent quality output
  • More than one story a day (Optional)

But I quickly found another problem:

It’s hard to create because you have to use your creative side.

It’s hard to use your creative side if you’re tired and want to stay in bed.

It’s hard to relax if you’re frustrated with not persuing your passion.

I found myself many times with the right intention, but wrong, very wrong, and lazy execution.

As obvious as it might be…

A clean diet helps.

  • Drink tons of water before you want to work on your writing.
  • (A coffee helps personally, although I don’t recommend it necessarily)
  • Eat fruit. Lots.

As I’ve said before, the quality of what you put into your body will be the quality of what comes out of your mind.

You want to build a good habit?

(We all want to…I know)

  • Stick to one specific time to write.

This should be your ideal one. Allocate 1 hour each day for a week and test things out.

Note down when you feel most creative.

Try the next day. And so on until you find a comfortable time.

If it’s a hobby do whatever you like.

If it’s a business do whatever it needs to be done.

You don’t have to be creative all the time.

You might ask me:

“But Eddy, I don’t know WHAT to write about! How am I going to create if I have no time to generate ideas!?”

Stick around and find out :)

Your weekend hours are your most crucial ones.

They are valued at 10x the price of normal Monday to Friday hours.

Why?

Because you get the liberty to stay at home (hopefully)

(I know this might not apply to everyone, but bear with me here)

You should use this time to do one thing.

The thing that will answer all your questions

Write outlines, and batch out content for the following week.

You only have to create 5 outlines, not 10, not 20. Just 5.

Here are the frameworks I’ve used to write my articles so far:

  • I get an idea from my magic pouch (more on how exactly to get ideas later)
  • I utilize either PAS, DVAS, or BAB.

PAS = Problem, Agitate, Solution.

DVAS = Desire, Vision, Anti-vision, Solution.

BAB = Before and After Bridge.

(They are pretty self-explanatory but if you have misunderstood any of them comment and I’ll gladly do an article explaining each one in detail)

Getting ideas

We’ve all suffered from writer's block at least once in our careers.

Here’s how you can defeat it once and for all.

It’s not a trick. It’s a technique.

I call it… info-filtering

Basically, you approach content creation as a game of eating and “spitting” out content

You need only 3 things to make it happen:

  1. Time to observe everything or anything around you
  2. The knowledge to transform that into an idea
  3. 5 minutes to write it all down on your phone or notebook

Why this works for me because I don’t make an extra effort to come up with ideas.

I’m just concisely making the decision to let ideas come to me.

I do that all through the week. Monday to Friday.

I then write the fanciest ones on paper.

I connect what I like.

And then the next step of this process is actually BEHIND in the article

I know…I took a weird approach. Maybe it will make you read for 30 seconds :)
