I Eat Rice With Leaf

A Haiku about my undying love for Indian Cuisine

In South-Indian Cuisine, Rice is served not on plates but on a banana leaf.

Other than being a disposable substitute of a plate, Banana Leaf Meals are usually served with hot fragrant Basmati rice, an assortment of Indian vegetables, and savoring condiments. My favorite go-to side dish is the one and only Butter Chicken — served in a pot of curry prepared with spiced tomato, butter, and cream sauce.

FUN FACT! Banana leaf meals are eaten by hand and parts of the Banana leaf meal etiquette also dictates that, after the meal, the guest must always fold the banana leaf inwards as a sign of gratitude to the host, even when the host is the proprietor of an eatery.

Here are some pictures (yes, I can hear your stomach from here)
