I Earned Passive Income With My Free E-Book. Here’s How I Did It:
And How You Can Do It Too!
Last year, I combined my decade long-worth of experiences as an immigrant, digital nomad, and ex-pat into a valuable Comprehensive Research Guide For Digital Nomads and Expats Looking to Move & Live Abroad.

Unfortunately, I didn’t sell a single copy!
The truth is that no one was visiting my website because I wasn’t conducting keyword research or optimizing my posts for SEO.
Honestly, I wasn’t giving my website the TLC it needed to thrive in the internet world.
A couple of months later, I pulled my ebook from my website and shut down the whole operation.
I was tired of wasting money.
Along the way, I discovered Gumroad. A free platform designed to house and sell digital products, such as e-books and e-courses.
Disclaimer: it isn’t exactly a free platform because you’re charged a percentage amount, based on the amount of money you earn from the total sale of your digital products.
It’s only free in the sense that you’re NOT REQUIRED to pay any amount of money, before listing your products on the platform.
I listed my E-book on Gumroad for $0.
When you set your price at $0, Gumroad still allows your customers to determine and pay a fair price for your digital product.
This is where your earning potential comes into play on Gumroad, even with a free product.
Although the price is set at $0, it still incorporates a “pay whatever you like” model into its checkout system.
I love this feature because it allows Creators to still be rewarded for the free value they provide.
Of course, not everyone will pay you money for products listed at $0.
However, some of your customers will be intentional about rewarding you with monetary value in exchange for the value you’re providing.
I also marketed my book by writing relevant content relating to travel, digital nomad, and ex-pat lifestyle, and linked my book at the end of each relevant blog post.
So far, I’ve earned $63 in passive income from a Free E-book.
I’m grateful for all the people who downloaded my e-book. And especially, for the ones who paid $$ for my work.
So far, I’m enjoying my time with Gumroad and looking forward to putting more work out there.
