Abstract

give you some pretty solid advice. And there’s much more to come in 2024.

The first thing that helped me to succeed was writing frequently. When I first started blogging, I only wrote about once every couple of days. Sometimes I’d skip most of the week. I was busy with other writing on different websites.

This was a waste of time. Not only was content writing as boring as church on a Sunday, but it was taking away the time I could be spending growing my Medium following. To get where I wanted to be, I couldn’t be playing around with other, less lucrative websites. I needed to focus on the best option out there: Medium.

Plus it was a shit-ton of fun. Writing about whatever I wanted, whenever I wanted was far more appealing than doing content writing about topics that were boring. I had no interest in tourist spots, car insurance, or whatever else I was wasting my time writing about. I missed Medium when I wasn’t on Medium.

So I gave up the outside noise. I went all-in on Medium. I knew I wanted to build this thing to the highest level possible. It started with writing and publishing more frequently. I committed to publishing daily. Eventually, it grew to writing and posting a piece in the morning as well as one in the evening.

I keep my fingers moving on the keyboard daily. Then I’d read something of theirs.

This all took time. You can’t be a good neighbor to your writing community by just publishing your writing piece and then disappearing. I knew that if I wanted people to give a damn about my writing, I had to be a good friend to all. But it was time-consuming.

It still is. I spend anywhere from 10 to 15 hours a day on Medium. Fortunately, I love it here. It’s replaced all of the hours a day I wasted on social media. This is a far kinder, more-supportive crowd than Facebook or Twi-X.

Another big step was starting my own publication. Bouncin’ and Behavin’ Blogs became an immediate success, with over 200 Medium writers asking to join the writing staff within the first month. I was blown away by the amount of interest my announcement article generated. Being a good neighbor here on the platform led to many writers wanting to join me.

We love having a good time at our family of BBB publications. Medium created a program for editors of publications to find and submit above-average articles to their Boost Nominator team. Between December 24th to December 27th, I earned exactly 787 from my writing earnings and the two stories I nominated that Medium accepted for the Boost. How to Earn More on Medium

I Earned $787 From Christmas Eve Until the 27th

Averaging Almost $200 a Day During the Holidays Taught Me This

If you listen to most of the writers on Medium, you might get a little depressed about the prospects of earning a good income here on our platform. So many people are chasing their tails and getting no where with their results. Others over-promise and under-deliver with their advice articles.

I’m not a part of either groups of people. I’ve marched to the beat of my own drum for two years now. In fact, today is the two-year anniversary of publishing my first article. It was about the Dexter series reboot. And it was lame.

Trust me, I just went to find it. It didn’t have a title. Or a subtitle. Maybe I’ll post the link to it at the end of this piece, for shits and giggles.

I’ve learned a lot in the two years I’ve been writing on Medium. I’ve found several things that have worked well for me. I’ve tried countless more that didn’t, but they provided lessons that I’ve built a strong foundation on. Again, I’ve learned tons on here.

One thing being, it’s possible to earn almost $800 in four days on Medium. During Christmas, even. Should I tell you how I’ve done it?

Of course, I will. I’m writing this how-to article from a second Medium profile, for Christ’s sake. You know I’m committed to you guys achieving success. Someone asked me recently why I don’t just market these tips and strategies and sell them for $499 a pop as a course.

Hmmm, why not indeed? I could be making a lot more than I am as a Medium writer if I marketed a writing course from The Professor of Medium. That may not be a bad idea, right?

Wrong. I’m happy with giving this advice away for free. I enjoy helping those of you who actually take the time to read these articles and apply the concepts I’ve come up with. I’m earning enough monthly between this profile and my main one not to worry about creating and marketing some expensive writer’s course.

So let’s dive into how this has happened for me in the two years it’s taken to go from being a newbie writer with zero followers to where I’m at now. With over 45,000 followers and 900+ Medium articles published, I feel I can give you some pretty solid advice.

Things started improving. But I’m impatient. It wasn’t happening fast enough. Time to take things to the next level.

The next step was making more connections. If anyone read one of my articles, I’d follow them. All clappers were followed, as well as people who left comments on my articles. I’d also chat with those who left kind and encouraging comments.

Creating them was a hell of a smart move.

After several months of building BBB, we added a sister publication, Bouncin’ and Behavin’ Blogs TWO, as well as Bouncin’ and Behavin’ Fuckery, a humor pub. Both are seeing wonderful growth, as we allow new writers to join our ranks. People appreciate inclusive, loose-with-the-rules publications. We’re diverse, humorous, and happy here at the BBB family.

The final thing that’s helped me to progress here on the platform was becoming a Boost Nominator. Medium created a program for editors of publications to find and submit above-average articles to their Boost Nominator team. We are paid for each article that Medium agrees is worthy to be Boosted, and that has added yet more monthly income besides what I’m earning for my writing.

I’ve been a Boost nominator now since May. I’ve earned $6255 alone just from the stories I’ve nominated that have been accepted. I take this very seriously and appreciate that I was given the opportunity to be one of the first 50 Boost nominators in the program.

That’s the long and short of things. Between December 24th to December 27th, I earned exactly $787 from my writing earnings and the two stories I nominated that Medium accepted for the Boost. I’ve come a long way since my first month’s earnings on Medium.

Which was 99 cents. I earned that much in January, 2022. This month of December will now be my second month in a row earning over $3200. I can’t wait to see how far things progress in 2024.

Realize that activity breeds activity. Get on board with publications. Start your own, or become an editor for an existing one. Write as often as possible, but make it high quality stuff people will remember. Be a good neighbor and interact with your followers.

It all leads to great things. By trying to be 1% better every day I’ve been on the platform, it’s led to amazing things in just two years. You can do it, too. Stay tuned for more tips and strategies from The Professor of Medium in 2024.
