I Earned $1,000 a Month — Here’s Why Staying Focus Matters
A few things and a person doing it.
Sometimes it can be hard to tell what is moving the needle.
For the last 10 days, I have been documenting my earnings in detail on how much I earn and reflecting on the stats with notes.
It started out like this with an average earning of 34.64 a day. I did that because I knew if I did not stay focused, I could easily miss it again.
Do you still remember the feeling you have when you are about to surpass the earning goal that you made last month?
Well, that feeling can make or break your next progress or it tends to slow things down a bit because the brain loves to protect itself and like to feel safe. And when we are safe, meaning we thought we did better than last month already, why take the extra effort or risk if they shall say?
Now refocusing on what matters is always the way to break into the next phase of growth.
To most of my audience earning $30+ a day might seem a lot already.
But be honest with yourself, that you never think of $1K or even 2 or 3K a month before. Even so, that might be the reason you look forward to writing every day.
What I can say is it does take a bit more than we think to make that $1K a month. As you know on Medium consistency is built by adding up your effort by the day and hours.
Just try to take a few days off and see what happens.
Now that might sound like a thing to be worried about.
But if you think the other way, each time you pick up that first few words and then craft it into a sentence of a new post, the experience is non-measurable in joy and fulfillment.
Yet if you didn’t feel that way, or at least while you’re writing it then you have a problem.
Don’t lose motivation because you need it.
There should be a drive in your action or else it will eventually die off as motivation can only keep you up for so long.
Think of purpose with achievable goals and steps to get there.
Set it up by writing them down, it doesn’t have to be a long list a few reminders could do it.
The moment we have been waiting for and how much I earned yesterday.
$1022.91–982.49 = $40.42
Now the details break down and my 3 main focus going forward:
288/425 = 67.7% VS 249/392 = 63.5% Read Ratio. (post a bit more and that’s why happened)
$40.42/249 = 0.162 per average read overall which is a lot higher than the day before (0.138) and also means the previous post helped hold up the earnings.
You can see that the over all read ratio can’t not tell how you are doing. That is because half of the posts does get flopped if you post too many of them.
Now I have reached my 1K monthly earning goal. It is time to set new goals and expectations. To do that I need to shift my focus a bit.
The 3 things that I am going to focus on are:
- Headlines for more views
- Structure for more reads
- Storytelling for fuller engagement or longer reads
There are also a hundred other things I need to work on but for now, those 3 I will focus on first.
