I always wanted to write articles and didn’t know an excellent platform to keep me engaging. So I started writing my book, but I never felt that fulfillment of completion of something. It just felt like a never-ending process. I knew about WordPress and some other platforms. But they were too saturated and required a lot of work to start.
Few days before I had a severe lower back injury and I was suggested with complete bed rest. And I had too much time to myself. Usually, my days passed by watching YouTube, some of my online lectures for my exam, and lying on the bed.
I also started my YouTube channel a few weeks ago. And the process required me to write a script for my video. And was the best part of the process. One day, I stumbled upon Shelby Church YouTube video where she shared her journey on Medium. I watched the whole video and until the end, I was sold to start writing on Medium. And I just thought, why not convert those scripts into an article and post them on medium. This way I can do both, YouTube and Medium. (Fact- I never uploaded a single video after that because writing on the Medium is so addictive, but now it was the other way around. Convert my articles into the video.)
The next thing I did was created my Medium account and felt like this was the platform I was looking for. It was just perfect. Easy to write, edit, and publish my work, the best thing for a writer. Shelby also interviewed two Medium writers named Zulie Rane and Casey Botticello. Just for the information Zulie also has a YouTube channel, where she talks all about Medium.
Up until a week ago, I had no clue what Medium was. But after watching Shelby’s video something happened to me and I found myself searching for everything Medium.
I read many medium articles along with the responses under each story, at the time of my research. It was such a unique and positive space compared to Instagram and any other platform.Once I published my first drafts, I already started thinking of ideas for my next article. After publishing my first story, I also created my publication. (If you want, have a look)
I joined Zulie’s 5 Day Medium Steps and created a rough plan named ”First week on Medium” for what I will do this week on medium. I just took my IPad and jotted down all my ideas like which publications to apply, read the curation guidelines, sign up for partner program, and many more.
As I noted this, I have at least 5 stories in my drafts which I have started working on.
On 18th August, I woke up and checked my statistics and was surprised to see that with 73 views, I had made mighty 💲0.16 on my first article! Mighty 💲0.16
You may be thinking I am to stupid to be so excited about “Mighty 💲0.16”. Yeah, you heard right. It’s now a thing for me. I’m am so much thankful to all those “73” people who took the time to read my article and found it inspiring.
Inspired by a similar situation as Asha Rani’s. Thank you for sharing your beautiful story.
