I Drink Life Slowly
A Poem
I drink life slowly, one sip swirled about my tongue seeking a hint of passion and purpose before swallowing.
Breathing it in waiting for it to fill my lungs holding the memories in, reliving them before exhaling.
Touching it feeling the softness in love the rough hewn textures of anger and hate; splinters sliding into my skin
I drink life easily not knowing when I will drink again.
Molding it needing it with hope and longing for it to be turned into something immortal.
Shaking it awake when it slumbers pushing it to remember how; holding it, so it never forgets.
I drink life slowly and savor the taste.
