I Don’t Have to Conquer My Fear of Flying

That’s why they made boats.

Tin cans in the air The Wrights had it right But no, not for me Can’t manage the fright.

I better preferred To be feet on the ground My thoughts soaring free But with soil all around.

He knew of my fear Of going up there So on his last trip to space Sent me a small taste.

So never you say, I shared not this gift Flying high in the sky And being sun-kissed.

It’s amazing the sunset You see from up here The show is much better Because you are near.

A lot can be seen So high above earth But I had nary an urge To leave the land of my birth.

Laughing, he insisted It was safer by far Than buckling up And traveling by car.

It’s so nice my dear I replied to his crack Did you catch any angels And are sending them back?
