How often do you neglect your body because of work?

I can’t take care of myself because work takes up too much time

My faithful and loving gym partner, who is also a passionate professional bodybuilder had an injury earlier in the year and has yet to complete physical and chiropractor therapy. One of her excuses for not completing physical therapy is due to an infamous and overused reason: work.

Don’t be a sick doctor

I was talking to my brother the other day about how I was struggling to manage my own stress and still take care of all the people I support and care for, and he conveyed the famous words of wisdom to me:

Don’t be the sick doctor.

What are you choosing over your health?

We put off our health to make money. We put off our health to meet the demands of our companies. We put off our health to meet the demands of our bosses and colleagues. We put off our health to climb the corporate ladder. We put off our health to take care of our families. We put off our heath to watch tv. We put off our health to travel. We put off our health to shop. We put off our health to look great on social media. We put off our health to meet the demand of everything and everyone else except ourselves.

Why do we do this to ourselves? At some point, we get fired or lose our jobs, get sick, quit our jobs, or experience a rude awakening, and realize how much time we wasted not taking care of ourselves.

Often, it’s too late to turn back the destructive habits our bodies have endured. But it may not be too late for you.

Don’t be the sick doctor. Don’t be the person that takes care of everything and everyone else, but never takes care of themselves.

You are worthy of self-love, self-care, nourishment, genuine relaxation, time to yourself, and more. Value your life, value your holistic health (i.e., mental, emotional, physical, sexual, financial, and spiritual), value yourself enough to never compromise the prioritization of your self-care.

As Jim Rohn states, whatever you neglect, pretty soon it will matter. Don’t neglect yourself because, at some point, it will matter.
