I Don’t Have a Niche but Here is What You Can Get From Me

I’m going to try not to sound like a pretentious prick, but I’m not sure if I will succeed.

Same as many of you, I’m not an expert in anything, and I’m not special — regardless of what my mom would say.

I was born in Hungary and moved to London 7 years ago, but I know that’s not what you want to hear. You clicked on this post to see if it’s worth reading anything from another Eastern European immigrant who pretends to be a writer/blogger — signed up here to get the big dolla dolla bill ya’ll.

What can I say? We all want to be heard and read, right? Ok, ok, I get to the point because procrastination time is precious.

I used to write a blog for 7 years. I fell in love with pop culture a long time ago, so understandably, most of my pieces, one way or another, will be reflected by that. Storytelling is everything for me, whether it comes from movies, tv shows, books, or even music. I consider it the strongest and the most impactful tool one can have. It’s also extremely hard to do it well.

I’m citing Hemingway, although I don’t even like his style. But credit where it’s due.

My goal is to entertain and inform rather than educate. Sure, you will find some pretty interesting stuff in my articles (wink-wink to my ego), but I’m not a teacher, nor a philosopher or an entrepreneur (I don’t know any French, don’t believe everything you read).

For instance, recently, I worked on two essays — which are currently waiting to be rejected by several publications — about two vastly different subjects. I know, I’m big on positivity.

Joking aside, I do believe in self-improvement, so I definitely want to add that to my arsenal. I like to contemplate life occasionally, and being inspired by experiences. Let that be failures, surprises, health issues, tough decisions, changing relationships, or unicorns.

What I don’t want is to sound didactic and pretentious. I don’t know more than your grandpa who had been to war, shook hands with JFK, and bought a beer for Kevin Costner. See what I did there? Cross-reference, bitches. I can’t help it.

Relax, I’m more serious than that — I. Am. For. Real.

I can be obsessive which comes in handy sometimes (doing research), but other times it makes things difficult for me. I appreciate vulnerability because I also play in that team, so go easy with the comments — I don’t read them anyway. Kidding! Of course, I will, self-destruction is my second name. Duh.

I’d just simply like to share and entertain, discuss interesting topics, and worship every form of storytelling that’s worth it — screenwriting is a biggie for me.

I can only hope that you, dear reader, will relate to what I have to say. If you won’t, that’s okay as well — I’ll just wait for you outside.
