I Didn’t Follow the Dropout Trend to Succeed Side Hustle
Your journey is unique.
I went to my father crying during the first month of joining the college.
- I didn’t want to study.
- I had no interest in cramming the syllabus.
- I wanted to do something practically.
His response was to complete your graduation. Then, do what you want to.
I continued and completed my graduation.
I started writing and looking for opportunities in the second year of graduation.
In that tenure of 3 years, I
- Didn’t earn $$$.
- Didn’t build my agency.
- Didn’t have a huge following.
I failed and bounced back. That’s what my experience is, and I cherished it.
I survived my side hustle while attending regular classes. That multitasking experience taught me to deal with stress, build resilience, and sharpen my skill set. Here’s how:
Handled a job and freelancing projects.
I got exposure to the startup world through my first part-time job as that agency was offering services to startups.
I had fixed working 6 hours a day with 2 days off a week in my job. I had freelancing projects alongside. I used to manage to read or upskill at the weekends (That was irregular and messy).
This challenging experience nourished my mindset and emotional growth and shaped my personality.
Measuring only income is a small metric of overall growth.
Failed
I failed at learning when I couldn’t continue to upskill in copywriting.
I failed to deliver results in my first project on LinkedIn.
I failed at having harmony with myself.
Getting constructive feedback on my job was a norm.
I screwed to being in the present moment many times.
That’s how a newbie’s beginning is.
Getting started is hard when people judge you, yet you survive to thrive in the future.
Started from scratch again after my college
I lost my job and was left with only one client.
I took a step back to basics by going on a consultation call, attending a session, and practicing copywriting every day.
I continued networking on LinkedIn.
These efforts got me the results of a new job and two clients.
My content published on Medium and LinkedIn is read across the boundaries.
I’m evolving as a person and professional.
I’m in the discomfort zone when I overcome challenges and the fear of insecurity daily.
My intention to share this with you is to remind:
- You can rise after failures and rejections.
- Growth is not a straight path as it sounds when you hear somebody say: “I did this. I achieved that.”
- You are the creator of your path.
- Pain, failures, and unexpected situations are the cost of your growth.
I hope it reminded you to keep going because you become what you go through.
“It’s hard to beat a person who never gives up.”
