I Deleted All the Games from My Phone, Now I Write and Submit Two Articles a Day
It’s not rocket science

I was playing with my phone, Words with Friends, then I would switch to Instagram. I would check my Twitter feed as well. I did all this while sitting in front of my laptop with the intention of writing.
A few days ago an impulse seized me
It was the urge to delete all the games from my phone. A few days later, I noticed something. My focus had increased. Instead of writing one article a day this past weekend, I wrote two.
It helped that my wife left me alone to write, but I know that not having the distraction of my phone was the catalyst. The surge in productivity got my attention.
Do you want to succeed as a writer or not?
If you want to succeed in writing, or anything else, you need to assess your priorities. Take a hard look at what you are doing with your time.
In the next step in my new dedication to writing, I deleted a whole bunch of Instagram accounts. I deleted almost all the accounts that had nothing to do with writing.
We all have to grow up sometime
I decided that a sixty-two-year-old man didn’t need to look at accounts that a teenage boy would obsess over. These two steps have improved my focus. They were distractions even when I wasn’t using the phone.
The third thing I did, I put both phones out of reach. I have to fight the compulsion to pick the damned things up and scroll through sites that don’t matter.
I want to earn my money
The two article a day goal is a means to an end. I haven’t had a car for a while. I’m on Disability and my wife soon will be on it as well. I want to make enough that I can get off Disability.
I don’t want to sound like Captain Obvious, but
My advice for everyone struggling to produce content is. You have to put the work first; get rid of everything that gets in the way. Playing Words with friends will not make you a successful writer, but writing a lot will.
