I Dedicated This Book to My Dad

For his 98th birthday

I am one of 11 authors who contributed to the 2023 Dancing Elephants Press anthology, The Joy of Life. My dedication in the 2022 book ran a full paragraph and thanked everyone involved. This dedication was a single sentence.

For Dad, who always believed in me.

The book arrived Thursday. I inscribed the first page.

Dad, you have been the source of so much love, joy, and inspiration. I love you.

Relatives arrived to celebrate his birthday on Friday. He proudly showed off the book and inscription.

He went to the ER on Saturday and has been hospitalized for over 2 weeks. They’re now using phrases like “palliative care”.

I’m glad it arrived in time to give it to him when it mattered.

Don’t delay showing the people you love how much they mean to you.

Jennifer
