I completely disagree with your assessment. I think you're overlaying your personal usage and situation as a generalisation of everyones usage or experience.
I never bought or used MacPro's, AirPod's, Beats or some other devices because they don't fit my usage, or that of my parents, but it doesn't mean they shouldn't exist.
I contend the AppleTV UX is probably still one of the best in the market. It also avoids the pit of hell that is TV manufacturers UI's, particularly content providers apps being on a subset of models.
AppleTV is one of the devices that I would like see have a long life. We use it for many hours per day.
