I Chopped Off my Long Hair

You said you loved my long hair.
Back then, you were eager to brush it. Proud of having a beautiful girl with waist-length hair.
Gradually, this shiny new thing lost its charm.
It must have been hard with so many beautiful butterflies fluttering around.
Did you stop loving me when my hair turned brittle and fell out in clumps?
Did you feel revolted each time you looked at the hairless patch that replaced my crowning glory?
I chopped it all off in the hopes that it would grow back.
It didn’t, and you left.
Well guess what? It grew back.
Waist-length again. But not straight and lifeless like before.
Curly and full of bounce.
Stronger and healthier.
The hair loss wasn’t due to hormonal imbalance after all.
Huh.
