I Choose to be Myself
A poem of self-love
I choose the time along the line When peace and love prevail Moments of momentum in per centum And know I often fail.
In between sessions, I reap the blessings And count them like abacus beads I watch the impost of nature That supplies most of my needs.
I choose to be myself Who else could I possibly be A million to one, chance as I dance A mere droplet in the sea.
Mistakes I’ve made are my guide The many I make each day I know it’s true and cannot hide They’re painted on display.
I live and I learn and often turn To wise men and women for The way into the sunshine And that there’s so much more.
To realise and remember That after the push and the shove The only one under the sun Is the one that I trust self-love.
The peace in a piece of music Sung by the wind in the trees Three waterfalls cascading Blown by the morning breeze.
Then near the end make time to spend With my thoughts and reveries And know where ere the wind may blow Explore life’s mysteries.

My thanks to Carolyn Hastings for tagging me into the “I Choose” Prompt. Here is her beautiful poem:
And Sahil Patel’s free verse poem, who started the prompt.
I encourage more writers and poets, too numerous to name to write their angle on the “I Choose” prompt.
