I Choose

A free verse poetic prompt

I choose to live a life of courage to leave my bitter past behind to go on undaunted of the scars of brokenness to forget not I’ve been broken but to discover from it.

I choose to live a life of happiness to let not someone who doesn’t know my value tell me how much I am worth; to create my own happiness despite someone’s wish to take it down to have the power to change my physical, psychological, and emotional lessons to make me a happier person.

I choose to live a life full of love to forgive those who have hurt me to move on and have a brighter life of my own to dream of becoming the best in any way I can.

I choose to often remind myself, every time I feel haunted by ghosts of yesteryears I am not my dark, scary past I am what I dream to become.

A word of hearty thanks to my sweet, pretty friend Doctor Dr. Preeti Singh, and to my dearest friend, Bhavna Narula, for tagging me with this prompt. It’s really an honor writing this, as I remind myself once again, of a bright future that awaits those who believe in one’s self-worth.

Shoutout too, to the foremost person who tagged this prompt, Sahil Patel, with his beautiful piece below:

I do now choose to tag further Terry Mansfield, Franco Amati and Amy Pierovich. Thanks so much for reading. Stay well ever.
