The Carnivore Diet — Results

“Nutrition is like politics, and people fight hard for their team.” ― Shawn Baker, The Carnivore Diet

I never gave it any attention when I heard about it less than a year ago.

I thought — this must be another one of those diets. Another fad. Another craze. Another extreme.

A year ago the controversial movie “The Game Changers” came out promoting the health benefits of being vegan. It was full of professional athletes who had increase strength, increased stamina, increased speed, increased endurance…

Throughout my life, I’ve read news, studies, and heard doctors say that you need fruits and vegetables. The more the merrier.

Everyone I know believes that fruits and vegetables are key to good health. Improved heart, kidney, and liver functions, and decreased risk of cancer. It’s also good for the environment and animal friendly.

But meat is good within reason. Good for protein, and iron. Overeat it and you risk increased cancer. Increased heart disease. Increased cholesterol. Increased load on your internal organs.

Even increased protein intake is looked down upon. Too much protein? That’s NOT healthy. You need your fiber. You need your greens.

You live longer if you’re a plant-eater, and die younger if you’re a meat-eater.

Fruit and Vegetables = healthy

Meat = not so much

At least that’s the prevailing sentiment towards meat.

Now The Carnivore Diet came to shatter all existing beliefs and understanding of healthy eating with real-life examples.

By eating just meat, red meat mostly, and drinking water, you will resolve all your existing chronic diseases. You will have more energy, improved mood, and lead a healthier life. That’s the promise/expectation.

I wrote an article the other day about Dr. John Jaquish. I mentioned how he just eats meat and zero carbs, and he managed to lose fat and build muscle at the same time. Wait, WHAT?!

I’m used to hearing about some carbs, but zero carbs and managing to grow muscle and lose fat at the same time?! That was a first!

I was surprised to get a couple of responses on this part specifically. Dr Mehmet Yildiz has been on a zero carb diet for years and doesn’t plan on including carbs again. The zero carb diet helped resolve prior health issues. Thank you for sharing Dr. Mehmet!

Another response from Diane Overcash, a 71-year old, said she has been on the Carnivore Diet for three weeks and feeling great! Thank you for sharing Diane!

Fascinating!

So I started doing some research on the topic and I came across Mikhaila Peterson. Another mind-blowing story of how being on a carnivore diet saved her life.

This is straight from her site https://mikhailapeterson.com/

“I promote an unusual diet that has allowed me to get off of over 10 medications and put my several, seemingly incurable, life-long diseases into complete remission. By the age of 22 I was diagnosed with juvenile rheumatoid arthritis (age 7), depression (age 12), bipolar type II, idiopathic hypersomnia, lyme disease, psoriasis, and dyshidrotic eczema. They’re all in remission with strict dietary adherence. I have a healthy daughter, I have my life back and I’ve seen hundreds of others have similar remissions. This lifestyle is centered around a diet consisting solely of beef, salt, and water supported with numerous health and wellness practices (some rather unorthodox).” — Mikhaila Peterson

There are countless success stories and transformations on her page with before and after pictures. Here are some of the mentioned results.

  • Improved sleep
  • No Multiple Sclerosis symptoms
  • Resolved debilitating symptoms of Bipolar Disorder
  • Resolved Depression and Anxiety
  • Allergies symptoms are gone
  • Resolved gut issues
  • Resolved ADHD
  • More energy
  • Weight loss

Actually, all pictures reflect extreme weightloss. They are PEELED. SHREDDED.

I went on to look for “The Carnivore Diet” book by Dr. Shawn Baker, and I came across this GoFundMe page.

This is a fundraiser for a Carnivore Diet Clinical Trial by Dr. Shawn Baker and Mahsa Rostami.

“Support us as we move the carnivore diet beyond anecdote to hard clinical data.” — Dr. Shawn Baker and Mahsa Rostami.

This got me thinking. If the author of The Carnivore Diet book is saying this, then maybe there isn’t enough proof.

While there are countless transformations, there aren’t any clinical studies out there that can definitely say a Carnivore Diet is more beneficial than an all-plant diet.

“The biggest problem is that the vast majority of studies are not experimental, randomized designs. Simply by observing what people eat — or even worse, what they recall they ate — and trying to link this to disease outcomes is moreover a waste of effort. These studies need to be largely abandoned. We’ve wasted enough resources and caused enough confusion.” — Professor John Ioannidis, MD, 2018” ― Shawn Baker, The Carnivore Diet

One thing I know for sure — this diet is worth looking into.

If you’re suffering from chronic disease, and tried the traditional “healthy” path, maybe it’s time to consider going Carnivore for a while.

You have nothing to lose.
