I Can’t Get Enough Of The People In My Life

My Thankfulness Series Part One

I am a new writer for Soul Magazine. So new, that this is the first time I am publishing with them.

Vinitha Dileep recently posted about a 30-day Gratitude Challenge with Soul Magazine. I am not posting every day, because that’s just not where I am at with Medium this month. (Stay tuned for December though!) However, she also suggested a weekly post.

I think it is the perfect way to celebrate the month of November and prepare my heart for Thanksgiving.

Every Saturday in November, I plan on writing about things that I am thankful for.

Today, I am thankful for the people in my life.

My husband :)

I have written article after article on my husband. There’s no denying that I am crazy for him.

He’s my very best friend. He’s my rock during the harder times in life and my constant laughter during the good and even bad times.

Our marriage only gets better and stronger. We do all that we can to keep God in the center of it.

If I don’t stop myself soon with how amazing life is with my husband, this entire post will only be about him.

Just know that I am blessed.

Family

I talk about both mine and my husband’s family a lot. They both play a significant role in my life.

For our wedding, I knew that I wanted every sibling (and sibling married into the family) in our wedding.

We had one nonfamily member at our wedding. My best friend, Melody, was one of my bridesmaids. We grew up together before she moved to California in 2016. So, she’s family.

Since our wedding, my husband and I have gained a sister-in-law on each side. Our families will only continue to grow.

I know that it is a huge blessing to have two great families to lean on. There is no in-law drama for either one of us. We are so thankful.

Tennessee Community

Having a great family and then marrying into another great family made me not want to move away. It also kept me from having any motivation to make friends or find any sort of community in SC.

With two big families to constantly hang out with, I didn’t feel any kind of need.

When we had to move for my husband’s work, I desperately needed people. I went from being surrounded by loving family constantly to being completely on my own.

The small town that we live in has been exactly what I needed. I have more real friends now than I ever have.

My husband and I found the perfect church. Our church welcomed us in quickly. I have never had the church experience that I do now. I once craved to blend in with the Sunday morning crowd, and I have now learned the beauty of being a part of a church family.

If we couldn’t stay in SC, we found the very next best place to live.

Online Community

I’ll never stop talking about the people on Medium. I have made so many connections. Some of these connections go way back to very different seasons of my life.

I have poured out my heart in a lot of posts. Sometimes, I sound depressed. Other times, I am beyond happy. There are times when I am opinionated. The list goes on. I truly do post all kinds of random things.

And without fail, so many new and old Medium friends are there to support me.

When life gets hard and writing feels like too much work, I keep coming back anyway.

And it is 100% because of you all. I really can’t say if I would have kept going as a writer these last five years without you guys.

I am so thankful for every single one of you.

I can’t say thank you enough to the people in my life.

God has given me multiple amazing communities to support me through life. He always knows exactly what I need.

As someone who hates being alone during the good and bad in life, God has made sure to find me plenty of people to go to.

I do not take this blessing lightly.
