I See Your Future
I Can Tell Who’s Gonna Make it Big on Medium
Some of Y’all Stand Out

One of my superpowers besides writing bad-ass, funny blogs is being perceptive about many things. I’m not saying I can see into the future with any level of accuracy, but I’m also not a dummy.
I can tell who is going to make it big on Medium.
I cannot predict overall writing success for everyone. There are some who are pretty inactive on Medium, but they are working on other writing ventures. I respect that.
Perhaps they’re putting together their first e-book. They may be writing the next great fantasy or horror series. Maybe they’re headed in the direction of making $5,000 monthly doing content writing.
That’s awesome. There are so many directions you can travel during your Writer’s Journey. No two journeys are exactly the same. But I can tell who’s more likely to rock and roll on Medium. And who might end up stuck in the desert trying to find the next oasis to survive.
Here are the ways that Zoltar Provencio knows all and sees all. Drop a quarter in, watch these eyes light up, and follow the heavy breathing. I’m going to drop a little truth on you.
You Will Succeed By Being Active

Some of the best writers I know on Medium are the ones who are publishing daily. For them, it’s not difficult to crank out a quick blog in about 45 to 60 minutes. Then they proofread them, edit, find pictures, and publish.
They’ve done this for a long time, often. Yet some writers I run into are newbies. Despite this, they have goals to achieve and put the time and effort in. They show up daily. They don’t make excuses for not writing and they don’t procrastinate. Writing is their first love and it shows.
Activity breeds activity. If you’re taking more days off from writing than you are actually writing, this may stop you from achieving your goals and using the potential and talent that you have. Don’t get in your own way by being complacent and lazy.
You Will Succeed By Paying Attention to the Details

Most of my favorite writers on Medium do it well and make sure that it counts. They take every OPPortunity to dot their i(s) and cross their t(s). When they submit their latest blog or article to Bouncin’ and Behavin’ Blogs, I can zip through my editor’s process with ease.
It’s obvious that they’re intelligent and skilled. Or they just use Grammarly, like their editor recommends. I never have to make sure they’ve used a proper photo with the correct form of crediting. And the photos they do use are generally unique and eye-catching.
I never have to break their 10 to 12-sentence paragraphs up into smaller, more digestible portions for their readers to more easily consume. And their titles are correctly formatted and not way too short or a paragraph in length. They’re clever and stand out.
Paying attention to the details shows your reader that you care. You want them to have a wonderful, easy-to-navigate experience. You want them to think you’re smart and skilled at what you do. This creates loyalty, and they’re more likely to subscribe to your blog.
You Will Succeed By Being Interesting and Funny

I’ve read a lot of writing being one of the editors for three BBB publications. Before I had help and was doing it all myself, I’d read around 35 to 50 submissions each day. Some stood out far more than others. The best writers know how to become noticeable through clever and humorous writing.
If niche writing about serious topics is your thing, that’s fine. But for those who write their articles like a textbook, most readers are going to skip to the next story. People usually want to be entertained more than they want to be educated.
Likewise, if you write about the same topic everyone else is writing about. As writers, we tend to write about our own experiences. Most people don’t care about your own experiences. They want something that relates to them. So be sure that your experiences you’re writing about have a teachable moment or something that they can read and say, “Yeah, that’s so true!”
I enjoy teaching through my writing but being clever or humorous about those lessons. If you can find a way to relate a story or topic to something humorous, that’s half the battle. Be creative, it will help you build a loyal following.
You Will Succeed By Being Authentic and Taking Chances

One of the biggest reasons certain writers stand out more than others and achieve more is because they are real people. They don’t pretend to be someone they aren’t, and don’t censor themselves because they think certain words or topics may offend a few people.
We should always write our truth. If we are interesting and authentic in our writing, it won’t matter if we are a bit rough around the edges or use curse words occasionally. Most readers will relate to that if they’re that way themselves.
I have told other writers to write for their fans. Don’t cater your writing toward the people you are worried about offending. Chances are, you’ll piss those types off at some point in your Writer’s Journey and end up losing them, anyway.
I don’t mind losing those types of readers. If you’re offended by a few bad words or difficult topics to read about, I don’t care if you leave. You’d be happier reading one of the many other authors here on Medium.
I always prefer the writing of anyone who I can tell is authentic and comes real with it. I can appreciate that. I relate to that. I admire those who have the balls to stand up for what’s right and share their truth, regardless if it’s going to piss some people off.
I Can Usually Tell Who’s Going to Make it on Medium

It’s not rocket science. Most of the people I’ve had a good feeling about from earlier stages seem to be progressing and growing constantly. I’m quite proud of them for being talented, unique, and standing out from the masses.
Each week I find new writers through Medium that I say, “YES. This person is going to be big!” And I’m usually right. But my predictions aren’t infallible. Though I’m perceptive about identifying the next great Medium writers, it doesn’t always happen.
Perhaps they start out with a bang and lose motivation as time goes by. Life has a cruel way of throwing us curveballs that can affect our writing goals and dreams. We are pretty busy most days in the real world.
Put your writing first, or at least, as one of your top priorities. Pay attention to the details. Share your authentic truths in your unique, honest voice. Don’t write to appease the naysayers, do it to keep your followers entertained.
Life is short. We only have so many days to be great at what we do. Let’s leave behind a legacy of words, sentences, and paragraphs that will long outlive our bodies and entertain new fans even after we’re gone. &:^)
