5 Reasons Why Everyone Needs a Vision for Their Life

Vision provides a roadmap. Vision provides clarity in goal setting.

One of the most important aspects of life is having a vision. It’s not just somewhat important… it’s absolutely critical.

The highest-performing and most successful people in the world all have a vision for their life. It is what sets them apart from 98% of the population.

Desired results are a byproduct of having a clearly defined vision.

“A person without a vision will perish”

Let that verse sink in your brain for a while.

Until recently, I never thought it was important to have a vision for my life. I had heard and read about it. But I never did the math or made the correlation. I reaped some disastrous effects on my life because of having no vision whatsoever.

I was never taught, nor raised around the importance of or idea of developing a vision for my life. It was not mentioned by either of my parents. It was never taught in high school or college. And I only heard a lazy version of it early in my work life.

It was not until the last 4 years that I really started hearing more about the importance of having a vision for life. And I only heard about it from highly successful people. So I started paying closer attention.

I want for my life what highly successful people have. And most importantly, I am completely capable of achieving it.

I can teach you the same as well.

Why do you need a vision for your life?

Here are the 5 reasons:

1. Be a better version of yourself

You must create a vision for your future self. No one can do it for you, and you can’t wish it into existence.

The first time I read about creating my ‘future self’ was right here on Medium.

I learned it from Dr. Ben Hardy.

This was his specific article that got my wheels spinning. And I am grateful.

His article forced me to think about the life I was currently living versus the life I want to live. I had to take a good long look at myself. It was painful, I won’t lie. But through Dr. Hardy and his writings, I started to learn how to create a better version, a “future version” of my current self.

I also highly recommend investing in Dr. Hardy’s newest book, “Personality Isn’t Permanent”. This book is profound and life-changing. It will walk you step by step through defining and developing your future self.

You owe it to yourself to be better.

2. To achieve all your dreams

We all have hopes, dreams, and aspirations.

When a life of mediocrity is led, those aspiring achievements tend to fly out the window. Why? Because we follow the masses and societal norms.

True vision does not live in norms.

If you do what everyone else is doing, you will lose your vision.

Societal norms are not meant to achieve the highest levels of success. They are intended to keep you trapped in a mundane world of nothingness. The abyss of self-loathing and pity, if you will. You will accompany the mass of 98%-ers. You will be among sheeple.

In order to achieve success at the highest level, you must have a vision of not living a life of mediocrity. You must THINK and BELIEVE.

“Thoughts are things” — Napolean Hill

You must be willing to break free of the chains that put you in the bondage of a mediocre life in the first place.

You must be willing to change the actions which got you stuck in your rut.

You must be willing to step out in faith, take some risk, and have a vision for yourself and your dreams.

A prime example of this is one of my favorite top writers on Medium, Sinem Gunel. She developed a vision for her writing on Medium, after struggling for well over a year. And now she is CRUSHING her dreams and exceeding her expectations! Her story is amazing. You can read it here.

3. Experience healthy and improved relationships

When you have a vision for your life, you will have healthier and higher-quality relationships. You will think higher of yourself, which will raise your frequency.

You will be happier.

People will want to be around you.

You will attract and retain healthier, vibrant people.

“Your vibe attracts your tribe”

If you surround yourself with deadbeat, negative people, that is what you will get. You will have the life sucked out of you. After all, misery loves company.

However, if you surround yourself with positive, successful, and upbeat people, you will have more of those people in your life.

It’s your choice. It’s your vision!

4. Build wealth and financial independence

Believe it or not, you need a vision for debt relief and financial freedom.

What does it mean to be “financially free”? It means you don’t owe anything to anyone.

You must have a vision and goal for your money. Direct your money where you want it to go so you can achieve the financial success you dreamed of.

There are many different methods of achieving your financial dreams. Find what works best for you and your situation. And most importantly, stick with it! Never give up.

The super successful 2%-ers have a vision for their finances. Why not you?

Most likely you were told/programmed early on that “debt is a fact of life”. That is what I was brainwashed into believing. I bought into the lie I would be in debt for the rest of my life, and that debt was okay. It is just that, a lie. See it for what it is.

It doesn’t have to be that way. You don’t have to remain in bondage to debt forever. I know I didn’t.

5. Give back to others and your community

Community means different things to different people. This is where you get to have the creative ability over specifically who or what you want to serve.

It could be people, places, animals. The choice is yours. There is no right or wrong answer here.

Perhaps there is something within the surrounding community you love, and want to give a contribution. You can contribute your time, energy, finances, or all 3 if you so choose.

But to do so successfully, you must have a vision.

Set a specific goal, take action, and go make it happen.

Being of service to those less fortunate is both a positive and humbling experience. There are countless organizations that need help.

What speaks to your heart, and where can you be of service?

What do these 5 points about vision have in common?

They all require ACTION!

You must take action. You must do something.

Why? Because our actions shape our lives.

When we don’t take action, we are accepting comfort zones. It’s saying okay to being mediocre.

Get very specific about your actions. If you don’t have a specific action to perform, nothing will materialize into your reality.

Here is a simple equation to pull this all together:

Mind + Actions = Your life

The best place to start taking action is to write it all down. Put your thoughts to paper. Journal about what you want to achieve, how you will go about achieving it, and in what specific time will you achieve your goal.

Putting your thoughts and dreams on paper helps to solidify your actions. It helps you take the necessary actions so you can achieve the desired results.

Visualize, believe, and get results from taking action.

Now get out there and make magic happen!
