I Believe in Miracles, So Should You!
The day I reconnected with my childhood sweetheart.
“Ask and you will receive, and your joy will be complete.” John 16:24
You know the thing about miracles, you don’t believe them until you experience them.
My life changed the day I reconnected with my soulmate, my childhood sweetheart.
I started believing in miracles.
You’ve probably heard about “The Secret” or the Law of Attraction or simply praying to get answers for what you’re looking for.
Well, I had read books and watched videos on all of these “tools,” but it wasn’t until one cold Canadian morning that I really started believing in miracles.
Here’s what happened.
It was October 8th, 2007, on a cold night in Ottawa. I had my childhood friend, crush, and sweetheart on my mind. It had been over 12 years since we talked or went on playdates.
We were friends from Grades 1–4. We liked each other. She was the most beautiful girl in my world (and still is). She was fun, exciting, sweet, loving, outgoing, and loves to laugh.
We grew apart in Grade 5 (I have myself to blame). Then I moved.
I left my home country as a child and never reconnected again.
Over the next 12 years, I would occasionally dream of her and wake up feeling connected to her, missing her, but also wondering WHY? I had my life… Does she even remember me?
I would occasionally try to find her online, but with no luck. There was no Facebook at the time.
Even throughout my relationships, when a relationship would get serious, I would often wonder about my childhood sweetheart. I had to meet her again.
On that October night, I was in a car with my best friend, and I mentioned her to him. I told him about this beautiful young girl that I used to REALLY like, and I said (out loud), “I wish she finds me on Facebook and adds me.”
Facebook was new, and I came across her profile not too long ago. I just didn’t have the courage to message her. I didn’t expect her to remember me, and I couldn’t handle the rejection.
I wished she would remember me, and (not sure how) decide to message me on Facebook.
That night I went to bed, like any other night, but recalling my conversation with my best friend… (play When You Wish Upon a Star from Pinocchio).
I wake up the next morning, minding my own business and checking my email.
… then … it happened. The SHOCK OF MY LIFE.
She sent me a message on Facebook!!!
I was mind blown. My heart stopped. It skipped a bunch of beats. I still remember the SHOCK and DISBELIEF!!!
WHAT JUST HAPPENED?! IS THIS FOR REAL?!
Apparently, an old friend of mine has seen her the next day (she lived in a 7+ hour timezone) and told her I say “hi”. I had mentioned her to him three months back and asked if he knew anything about her.
He hadn’t spoken to her in years, but on that day, by pure coincidence, he stumbled upon another friend of his that was with her. He remembered our conversation and decided to tell her that I said “hi”.
I called my best friend and told him, “remember that girl I was telling you about last night?! SHE ADDED ME ON FACEBOOK!”
Now, HE COULDN’T BELIEVE ME!
Overnight, my wish had come true. In LESS THAN 12 HOURS.
From that moment on, we clicked. And she turned out to be the love of life, my wife, and the mother of our child.
To me, this story is still magical, after 13 years.
I, now, believe in miracles. And I wish you miracles.
