DAY TRIPPING
I Be Trippin’ A Whole Year
Time to come down

I must admit, when I began my Day tripping journey, I hadn’t considered the size of this commitment. You get far enough into it and there’s a point of no return.
But now that a year has passed, the dividends are abundant. Um, no. I’m not talking $$$, unfortunately.
That said, writing something, anything each day for an extended period is a fascinating journey. And what I’ve learned along the way is plentiful on several levels.
But first, I would like to thank two special people, Dr. Mehmet Yildiz and Claire Kelly for steering me forward. Their encouragement, advice, and support have meant a lot.
So now it’s time to come down from my personal bird’s eye perch over history. On my descent, I reflect on the lessons of the last 365 days. The number itself is a dizzying thought. However, in no particular order, here are some observations that made the climb so worthwhile.
- Daily writing forces discipline. The more often you write, the more you need to write
- Writing every day makes you a better writer (at least I think it has)
- People have some surprising stories to tell
- We need reminders of their important lessons from our past
- We need inspiration from their struggle
- I learned to appreciate the value of the struggle
- We also need to revel in their achievements
- And we need to remember they come from every walk of life
I leave Day Tripping behind with a newfound determination. I may not publish every day, but what's essential is, I will write every day. My daily reference will keep me company as I move on. I hope you too will stop by from time to time and take a Day Trip.
My sincerest thanks to those who stayed the course with me through the year. You are all appreciated:
