I Am Thought — a poem of travel & imagination
A rhythmic free verse poem inspired by Shakespeare’s Sonnet 44
I am but a wisp of thought Encased in dreary flesh, But I can jump both sea and land In dreams of places far away Where I may never be. My mind goes wandering across the earth And into other worlds of make-believe.
I may never stand upon The sands of other shores, But I can leap large lengths of miles In my imagination.
I am made of magic: Breath and heart and soul, And I can travel anywhere or when In dreams of realms and woods and wilds On earth or mists of myth. My dreams can take me anywhere For I am made of thought.

Esther learned to read when she was four years old, and began writing shortly thereafter. She is a Canadian queer Christian poet, crafting with words to create art and music.
