I Am Not Who You Think I Am

Hell, I May Not Even Be Who I Think I Am

I am a sinner.

I am a saint.

I a little bit of both.

My Mom recently celebrated 82 years around the sun and my sister created a “How well do you know Mom” game. She asked my Mom for answers to a series of questions about her life. The family member that answered the most questions correctly about her life was crowned the winner.

Of course we all think we know our Mothers very well but there are even things about our own parents that may surprise us. There were events and information about our Mom that many of us, did not know. Some things none of us knew.

How well do you know your family members? Friends?

We think we know our friends and family well enough to know how they think and how they would react in certain circumstances.

Phys.org reports that human behavior is 93% predictable but every day we hear incredible stories that shock us about the behavior of humans. People we thought we knew, we didn’t.

Robin Williams was hiding sadness beneath the smiles.

Bill Cosby, America’s favorite Dad, was drugging and abusing young women.

It’s not just celebrities that are keeping us in the dark of who they really are.

The person sleeping next to you may have a past that they will never reveal to you.

Everyone has a secret.

Do people change drastically over time or are you in the dark about who they really are?

Couples often separate because they claim a partner changed.

Maybe he/she did not actually change. Maybe you just never knew who they really were.

The Mind Unleashed reports that science shows that people behave better when they think they are being watched. That’s why I do not like to host visitors for too long. I feel like I cannot relax and just be myself. I’m not holding hostages in my basement but I do like to indulge in a lazy day every now and then without being under the scrutiny of judging eyes.

Do people know the real you?

I know I hold some views that may shock some of my acquaintances because my actions may contradict my beliefs. How well can anyone really know us if we are still figuring out who we are?

Do we really know anyone?

“The contradictions are what make human behavior so maddening and yet so fascinating, all at the same time.”-Joan D. Vinge
