I am Definitely at a Crossroads Now
Should I give up writing?
Believe it or not, this is my second story here on Medium this year.
I know it sounds quite disappointing given how frequently I used to write last year. But what’s comforting is that I did not make any resolutions to be more consistent on medium whatsoever, lol.
In all honesty, Medium remains one of my favorite writing platforms. The only challenge now for me is getting enough time to write here.
Why?
Well, as you may have noticed in my bio, I am also an aspiring cloud engineer. Long story short, that’s one of the reasons.
I’m currently a certified AWS Cloud Practitioner, and in the next few weeks, I will be taking the AWS Associate Solutions Architect certification exam. So I have been getting my hands dirty by building a few cloud projects using AWS.
It’s very important to gather hands-on experience in this industry since the certifications alone cannot get you a job in the cloud.
So the question here is, should I give up writing and focus on tech? What happens even after I am through with the exam? Writing has been one of my passions since childhood. Is this the end of it?
Well, I think not.
I see this as a great opportunity to blend my passion for writing and my love for tech.
This means after I am through with the AWS SAA exam, I could start writing stories about some of the cloud projects I built. With this going on it seems I’d have an additional niche to write about.
It’ll be a win-win!
There are quite a lot of things in our lives that make us feel like we have to pick one over the other at certain points. But more often than not, it is possible to combine the two which eventually turns out to be the best of both worlds.
If you are reading this and you are in that kind of situation, think of creative ways to combine the two talents, gifts, skills, or passions. Perhaps, they could work out together much better than you thought.
Anyway, see you after my exam. Wish me the best when you see this.
Update: It turns out I could not give up writing here just because of my exam. In fact, after striking a balance that allowed me to study about 3 hours everyday toward my exam, and still produce an article a day, I PASSED! I am super grateful to God and everyone who assisted me on this journey
My exam was one of the reasons I was not writing as much, but if you want to know the main reason, check out this story of mine:
Happy reading!
