I Am Blessed!
All things considered, I am blessed because my family and I have are safe and warm in our houses and enough to pay our bills next month.
I am so very blessed because:
I have friends and family that love, accept and support me.
I have a refrigerator and cabinets full of food and beverages of my choice.
But most importantly — I am blessed to have the physical and mental health and strength capacity to write and utter these words, and the humility and wisdom to know I’m privileged even as I face unemployment and health challenges.
I am blessed to have health insurance and the time, energy, cognitive and intellectual capacity to navigate the twisted system, use my (smart) phone (with unlimited data) and computers to go online to research resources (like prescription assistance plans) and spend 2–5 hours weekly advocating for myself to get basic health care needs like prescriptions filled and have the financial resources to pay for them if needed — this month…
I am blessed to know that I am SO blessed and privileged to be a proud mother who helped raise an intelligent, hard-working, strong-willed, college-bound, Black boy in an inner-city.
I am blessed to have the freedom and relief of becoming an empty nester and the luxury of my physical safety and peace,
I am blessed because I have just enough education, experience and connections to have had a great career and resources where all my needs were met, and had enough to afford a few luxuries…
I have an attitude of gratitude because I’m blessed today. I’m not sure what tomorrow brings, but God and his many angels have brought me this far… So I know he’ll get me through the next phase.
Right now — I’m preparing myself for the next blessing and being thankful every step of the way.
These are trying and frustrating times — but I find focusing on today’s blessings today helps me see a brighter tomorrow.
I hope these words were encouraging and help you see how blessed you are — right now — in this moment.
Thank you for reading
