I am an Ambassador #16
If you have read the stories where we answered the question Where Am I from, we explained the concept of the representatives that each kingdom sent to the countries they colonized, in order to implant their culture there. That concept exists to this day, but we’re talking about ambassadors. If today ambassadors are not sent to foreign countries to influence them, they are certainly there at least to represent their countries of origin.
(1) Pray for me, that when I open my mouth, it may be given to me to make known boldly and freely the mystery of the Gospel, for which I am an ambassador in chains, and that I may speak of it with assurance as I should speak of it.
The original idea behind the concept of being an ambassador, is to represent one’s territory in a foreign territory, in order to bring our culture into that foreign territory, as it was done in the time of the kingdoms. Today, ambassadors are not sent to other countries with the specific purpose of influencing the land they have been sent to, but somehow our presence in a foreign territory cannot go unnoticed.
When the Israelites went to Egypt at the invitation of Prime Minister Joseph (2), they did not go there with the objective of influencing Egypt to resemble Israel, but when their numbers began to increase, the ruling Pharaoh realized that Egypt had begun to be influenced by this large number of Israelites, and he felt compelled to act (3). If you have been in a country full of foreigners, you will realize that after a while this country begins to lose its originality, becoming a sum of the cultures of all these foreigners, mixed together (the cultures).
(2) And Joseph said unto his brethren and his father’s household, I will tell Pharaoh, and I will say unto him, My brethren and my father’s household, which were in the land of Canaan, are come unto me.
(3) And he said to his people, These are the children of Israel, who are a people greater and mightier than we. Come, let us be clever then them, and let us not let them increase, and let us not let them join with our enemies in the event of war, to fight with us, and then to go out of the land.
Since being an ambassador means representing one’s land in a foreign land in order to influence it with the culture of one’s country of origin, we understand that every man who lives in a foreign land is an ambassador in one way or another, even without an official title.
This is exactly what man came to do here on earth: coming from the kingdom of heaven, man was sent to earth to influence it with the culture of heaven. In other words, man came to earth so that the earth would resemble heaven. It is crucial that we understand this concept, because it will help us a lot in the next stories. As you read this paragraph, you are probably thinking: if man came to establish the culture of heaven on earth, then the earth resembles heaven now-and seeing how the earth is rather dysfunctional then I don’t see why I should go to heaven, because I’m going to find the same thing there. To this comment, I would answer with a question: is man succeeding in the job his kingdom has given him to influence earth to make it like heaven?
(4) Thy kingdom come; thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
The kingdom of Heaven and of darkness want to influence the earth
Man influences the earth, that’s for sure. The real question is: does he influence it to make it like heaven?
In the beginning, the idea of the Creator was, as we have seen so far, to send man to the earth, so as to bring the heavenly culture to it. But seeing everything that is happening in the world today, we can clearly see that this is not exactly what is happening. However, this is what was happening for a while, but a fact has come to change the situation.
By the way, when the Creator sent the first man here on earth, everything was going according to plan. In other words, man was ruling the world the way his Creator wanted him to. Man was in perfect communion with his Creator, and only did on earth what his Creator told him to do. He influenced the earth, so that the earth resembled heaven. So everything was perfect.
This is the reason why this place where man was was called Eden. When we talk about the Garden of Eden, we are not referring to a geographic situation, and that is why no archaeologist has found this place to this day. The word Eden in Hebrew means delightful spot, place, presence — in fact, it means place where the presence of God is manifested. By the way, what I want us to understand is that Eden does not mean a certain place on earth.
When we say that man was driven out of Eden after disobeying his Creator, we just mean that disobedience separated man from God.
(5) And the Lord God drove him out of the garden of Eden, that he might till the land from whence he was taken.
This order was broken on the day that man first decided to obey another spirit in the management of the land. The Creator had established rules for the proper management of the land, and one of them was not to eat of the fruit of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. A friend once asked me why God had put that tree knowing that man would eat from its fruit. In fact, he meant: since God knows everything, He knew that man was going to eat from this fruit, so why did He put it there? The day he asked me the question I did not know what to answer, but it was a few years later, following a teaching of Dr. Myles Munroe, that I received the answer to this question.
In fact, he says that he also asked himself the same question, and the answer he received from the Spirit is that, the Creator wanted to make sure that man obeyed Him by choice, and not because he had no other option. If I ask you to choose among 10 dogs, I know that no matter which choice you make, you will come across a dog. On the other hand, if I show you 9 dogs and 1 cat, and you still choose a dog, then I know that it is really your choice, because you had another option: a cat. That’s why man could do anything in the garden, except eat fruit from one tree. That way, even man himself knew that he was obeying the Creator by choice (by not eating the fruit of the forbidden tree), and not because he had no other option in any way (which would have been the case if man was allowed to do everything). Also, since man has the image of his Creator, and that Creator has a will, man must also have had a way to exercise that will, in order to really know that he is not a robot that only obeys orders.
(6) The Lord God gave this command to man: You may eat of every tree of the garden, but you shall not eat of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil; for in the day that you eat thereof you shall die.
Unfortunately, we know that man used his will to obey a spirit other than that of his Creator, and this was the beginning of a great change in the governance of the earth. This act, by the way, was the manifestation of the fact that man was saying: The orders for our way of governing the earth will no longer come only from the kingdom of heaven, but also from another kingdom, the kingdom of darkness. By obeying the enemy by eating from the fruit of the forbidden tree, man symbolized the fact that from now on, the directives on how to influence the earth will no longer come only from one source, as has been the case until now, but from two sources: from the enemy too, whom we commonly call the devil.
(7) And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food and pleasant to the sight, and that it was precious for the opening of the mind, she took of its fruit and ate it, and gave it also to her husband who was with her, and he ate it.
That is why the struggle on earth to this day is that of knowing — yes, man is an ambassador on earth, but what kingdom does he represent? Is it the kingdom of heaven or the kingdom of darkness? And as we have seen so far, in order to know which kingdom or nation an ambassador is representing, it is enough to analyze the culture he is trying to establish in the territory where he has been sent. I think you now understand why until today we have this fight between those who fight for the good, and those who strangely enough do not want the world to be well. It’s no coincidence that even in our films and series, there is always a part that represents good, and another part that represents evil. It’s just a way of summing up what’s really going on in the world. And if we enjoy these films and series, it’s because inside us we recognize the fact that, it’s really what’s been going on in the world for years.
This is not, of course, what was intended at the beginning, but none of us can ignore the fact that this is what is happening now. Since a spirit cannot come here on earth, then the 2 kingdoms come through man, to influence the earth as best they can. The Creator wants the earth to resemble heaven so that man can enjoy his sojourn here, and the enemy wants the earth to resemble hell so that man can suffer during his sojourn here. This is the short history of the world we live in. In subsequent series we will see how you are participating in this war of influence, whether you know it or not, and we will talk about how you can play your part, the part that was intended for you, in this influence of the culture of earth. I’m talking about your part, because even when you send several ambassadors to one place, each one has a role to play in making the mission a success.
Question of the week: Now that you know you’re an ambassador, I’d like to ask: “What kingdom are you representing here on earth?’’
