I Am A Woman
How I live differently, free, and happy.
“The single story creates stereotypes, and the problem with stereotypes is not that they are untrue, but that they are incomplete. They make one story become the only story.” —Chimaamanda Ngozi Adichie.
Stereotypes exist everywhere, and we all assume things about people and things. Stereotype promotes laziness and satisfies the nonfactual judgment. It drives and nourishes racism, sexism, classism, colorism, and all forms of discrimination.
I made a comment on a Facebook Women Group and one young woman felt my view was out of the mainstream — womanhood.
Are you trying to fit in or live freely?
You do not have to be like every other woman or man on the planet. Be you — true freedom.
Yes, I am a woman and also an individual with a brain. However, I do not have all women’s minds. I am not my mother or my four fabulous sisters. All of us are individuals with specific uniqueness.
I’m a woman.
Please don’t put me in a box.
I am not perfect and continue to work on my imperfection.
I’m not a fixer or a savior — I model, coach, or empower.
I admire and respect other women.
I don’t master small talk, but I am a great listener. I make a living listening to people.
I am an otherish giver — I advance my interests too.
I respect people and choose not to worship them — Dog, Queen, Pastor, babies, or celebrities.
I’m a woman and not a doormat or a pushover.
I work very hard to understand you — compassion and empathy.
I don’t gossip, but I read and write.
I am a mother, and my children are not my life. My partner is not Idi Amin.
I rarely watch Netflix but do more of CNBC financial news.
I prefer the stock option as a gift rather than flowers.
I enjoy myself, talk about financial freedom, and understand the power of wealth.
I prefer visiting museums, libraries, or theaters rather than a girls’ night out.
I’m a woman, and I graciously accept men/women’s gesture of opening doors for me. I do the same for them.
I trust myself and allow others to do the same.
I say NO often and relax more.
I prefer hard news and pay close attention to soft news.
I’m a woman; I love quality shoes, lipstick, and I wear a short skirt and trousers. OK! I drive a truck!
I’m a woman; I learn from everyone and everything — what to do and what not to do.
I’m a woman, and I enjoy my life and the freedom of being me.
It’s double work being someone else. Be You!
You were born to stand out, stop trying to fit in
— Roy T. Bennett
Remember :
Freedom comes with being yourself. So choose not to put yourself in a box. Be you and do you. And every other thing and people will fall into where they belong.
