A VETERINARIAN’S LIFE

I Am A Surgeon

a carver of sorts

Photo by Brett Jordan on Unsplash

Skin roams skin learning dips and curves preparing to cut- a carving, of sorts

The scalpel, my tool moves swiftly and surely tasting weight and texture layer, after layer

The center exposed, the heart of the matter, fingers reach deep touching life itself

A religious experience if ever there was one, seeking salvation for one small soul

Still, these are mere hands, invading a mysterious place and my job complete, I remove all traces

Then seamlessly align edges as if hoping to erase evidence of this insult to an unknown god’s perfect work
