Hydrating My Way to a Healthier Me
I never used to care about drinking water.
I downed coffee and soda instead, thinking plain old H2O was boring. But once I started tracking my water intake with a gallon jug, everything changed.
I was dealing with headaches, fatigue, and crankiness daily. I realized I was chronically dehydrated, especially since I train heavily at the gym (I need to drink a gallon a day to stay hydrated).
So I set a goal to drink a gallon of water every day and kept my jug by my desk to stay motivated.
The first week was tough.
More bathroom breaks and fighting soda cravings.
But I stuck with it and soon started noticing changes. After a month, my headaches went away and my skin looked fresher. I had more energy to exercise after work, which improved my sleep.
Even my digestion became more regular.
For me, the biggest benefit has been curbing junk food cravings. Drinking more water helps fill me up, so I naturally eat less and have less of an inclination to snack on junk food late-night.
I’m not saying water has been a total life-changer, but staying hydrated has made a real difference.
I no longer feel tired or cranky all the time.
