Hybrid Travel: How To Enjoy Both Worlds of Adventure and Comfort

Enjoying the Best of Solo and Group Travel

Do you find group travel trips too confining and structured, with not enough free time to explore?

Are you someone who finds solo-travel lonely and wants someone to share your adventures and experiences with?

I have a splendid solution for you.

Hybrid travel allows you to experience the best of both group travel and solo travel together.

With hybrid travel, there are several ways to approach it, and the only right way is what you decide works best for you.

One way is to travel with a friend that has the same travel expectations and budget range as you.

This allows you to share accommodation costs, reducing the amount you spend on lodgings, and have someone to share travel experiences with.

I did this with a friend, and it worked out beautifully. We shared a room for a week, met over breakfast in the morning to go over our plans, scheduled to see a few places together, and the rest of the time went our own ways until later that evening where we would meet back up for dinner, or after dinner to talk about what we did that day.

The key for this to work well is making sure that you and your friend agree on travel styles.

If one of you is a more low-mid budget traveller and likes to eat at small local places and the other prefers top of the line 5 star accommodations and expensive meals all the time, this will only bring misery and resentment. I do not recommend it at all.

Another option is you can solo travel and then book day or short multi-day group tours to see various places of interest at your destination.

This will allow you to share an in-depth experience with others that have a similar interest, while giving you plenty of time on your own to explore and eat at places that interest you.

This is also useful if there are day trips to places you want to see that do not have public transit to get to them easily on your own.

The type of travel I pick on any trip depends on my mood and what I want to see and experience.

I love small group travel for the convenience of having everything taken care of for you, and it’s a great introduction to the history, culture, language, and customs of a new country.

Solo travel is great when you just want to get away and explore on your own to find unexpected experiences.

I love hybrid travel for when I want a bit of both alone time and learning experiences, while meeting and spending time with like-minded people.
