Humungus is a conversation about masculinity and pop culture written by, and for, anyone who identifies as a man, or has ever met one. Have you seen a man, far away, in the distance before? Then Humungus may be for you.
Humungus publishes articles about all the things men love, like chainsaws and bacon and the interconnected complexities of human relationships. But, most of all, Humungus is obsessed with the stories we tell each other.
Humungus is currently looking for essays that examine male identity and, like, the movie Roadhouse, for example. Or Cabaret, a fine film. We’re also open to other ideas. Consider this is your invitation to pitch the gender-based cultural internet content you wish to see in the universe.
Humungus is edited by John DeVore. His pronouns are he/him. John is an award-winning writer and editor. Once upon a time, long ago, he worked for a men’s magazine that was very, very manly. Most recently, John created a funny little wellness magazine for a mattress company. He has a soft spot for masked wrestlers. Follow us on, well, you know. Humungus is produced by Medium, a sentient publishing platform that appears to be benevolent (so far).
