Humorous Poetry
“Ungirly”
I am a tomboy! My sister was much older than me so I spent most of my time hanging out with my brothers. I loved fishing, riding motorcycles, and playing sports with boys. Now I can dress up when I need to, but my preference is to be comfortable and practical most of the time. My one question that I ask any man that “comes a courtin” as my dad used to say, helps me to figure out who is relationship material.

So, you swiped right.
Did you read my profile tonight?
Did you notice my interests like race cars and sport?
Is that the kind of girl you really want to court?
Some days I don’t wear makeup or fuss over my tresses.
I like to wear jeans and a t-shirt more than dresses.
Are you okay on a date if we just shoot pool?
What about reading James Baldwin with me, would that be cool?
We could fish off the spillway at my favorite lake.
God I am so “ungirly”, but at least I am not fake.
I enjoy thinking about how wonderful men are! Many of my earliest heroes were my great grandfather, dad, uncles, and my big brother. I officially call myself “ungirly” because so many of my interests don’t fall in line with what people think I would enjoy. I am unapologetically me!
Thanks for reading my poem.
