Hubpages — Writing Your First Article

It’s not as intimidating as you might first think.

Screenshot of my profile

This morning I created my first post on the popular platform Hubpages. You can follow my profile and check out this paying platform right here.

At first glance, Hubpages is more informative and organized writing which benefits those of us who write SEO pieces, organized material, highly-researched pieces, listicles, or non-fiction informative content on a variety of topics.

That’s me! That’s me!

The editor is fairly easy to use but at first glance may feel overwhelming. Your content isn’t in one big editorial square like on Medium, Newsbreak, and Simily. The interface is much more similar to that of WordPress but, in my opinion, is much easier to use.

Think of your content as a series of smaller “capsules” with titles and text or pictures. You input the content in this way, edit it for appearance and clarity, then publish. You are given the option to classify your article so it is seen by the most interested audience.

This article (pictured above) was first published here on Medium in the Petness publication. I took some of the more relevant material from the article and edited it to be more informative, and published it to Hubpages as my “ground zero” article.

I plan to upload a few dozen more and watch this site to see if the earnings potential there may be higher for my work than it is here on Medium (which, let’s be honest, has been largely disappointing.) In fact, I feel very certain this platform could replace my income from Newsbreak, Simily, Vocal, AND Medium…if I play my hand correctly.

Let’s see what happens…

Thank you to Abena Talks for her articles that have shown me the ropes of Hubpages. It’s been helpful! I’ve learned a lot about what to do and NOT do on Hubpages and what types of writing work well there. (Although I’ll be skipping the part about using AI to help me write my articles.
