BLACKPINK Renews Group Contract, Promises New Album and Tour
K-pop girl group BLACKPINK has reportedly inked a new partnership deal with their long-time agency YG Entertainment to continue promoting as a group. This comes amid ongoing negotiations regarding renewing each member’s individual contract.
YG recently confirmed that Jisoo, Jennie, Rosé, and Lisa have re-upped their group contract with the company, citing mutual trust between both parties. YG pledged its full commitment to supporting BLACKPINK’s rise on the global stage. Fans can expect a fresh album release and a massive worldwide tour from the quartet soon.
The renewal news provided a welcome boost for YG’s stock price, which jumped over 25% on the announcement. However, questions remain whether the four women will re-sign as solo artists following in the footsteps of BTS, who all extended with their label HYBE twice already.
There is speculation around Lisa in particular, who allegedly declined individual offers from YG in the past. Reports also indicate Jennie and Jisoo may establish their independent labels. Without renewing separately, the members would focus more on individual careers while collaborating as BLACKPINK for group activities when schedules permit.
Each member has carved out a unique brand online, with over 70 million social followers apiece. They are expanding creatively beyond the group through solo music, with Jisoo and Jennie additionally diving into acting.
Fashion plays a big role too — Jennie represents Chanel, Rosé fronts Saint Laurent, Lisa is signed to Celine and Jisoo is partnered with Dior. Their global celebrity status suggests the women may not need to rely solely on YG moving forward.
