Have you ever asked yourself what ego truly means and how it can help create your self-identity?

Seriously, we all have met people who had either an overdose of ego or had no self-confidence, but what is the fine line between ego and self-confidence?

First of all there is a lot more than ego itself, it’s health and the behaviors which feeds the eye. Being able to differentiate on what you can improve on, whether that be building your self-confidence or working to control your ego.

So with that being said what is a healthy ego?

The Definition of Ego

To put things in perspective, the way how you see yourself in comparison to others, is the pure definition of your ego. For example, you get angry easily from criticism and people could say that you have a weak ego, but that doesn’t mean that you have weak self-confidence. To put it into an another way, people will see you as incomplete once you react badly to criticism, which is a result of your low self-confidence. It is all just a matter of interpretation.

What defines a Healthy Ego?

1.Self-confidence without believing in superiority.

2.Accepting and learning from criticism.

3.Being able to acknowledge when wrong, but don’t dwell on mistakes.

What defines an Unhealthy Ego?

1.Dwells on mistakes and can’t move on.

2.Extremely stubborn and believing to be never wrong.

3.Never going outside of your comfort zone and not trying new things.

Is it possible to fix an unhealthy ego?

Here opinions are divided into two categories: people believe by dissolving your ego entirely you will eventually become happy and the other side believes that a small ego is necessary to your happiness.

So what happens when you dissolve your ego entirely?

Dissolving the ego entirely, is a believe that your ego has no use in your life since it is measurable through comparison to others which could easily lead to a path of self-destruction.

What happens if you build a small ego?

Once you believe that having a small ego is necessary, you are right. Your ego is important to function in the world and not lose yourself. Furthermore, your ego could be used as a tool to become helpful, kind and humble. It will boost your confidence and pushes you further through to be your best self.

Ways on improving your ego

Once you realize you want to boost your ego, this is what I recommend, practice forgiveness, become an optimist by being positive and be grateful for the day.
