How Worried Are You About the Threat of WAR?

When governments go to war the people always pay!

I hate war! I know that should go without saying, but as crazy as it may be, not everybody feels that way. If that wasn’t already obvious to you in the past, just turn on the news today, or visit any of your favorite social media sites.

Consider the following paragraphs that touch on what’s been going on.

Putin’s insane declaration of war!

Russia’s president, Validmir Putin, has declared all out war on Ukraine overnight, and the region was subjected to a series of bombs and other military types of assault.

I’m not a very knowledgeable person when it comes to geography, politics, or international affairs, but I know enough to recognize a bully when I see one, and that’s exactly the way I’ve always viewed Putin.

The latest acts of violence and start of even more aggression against the Ukrainian people is horrifying.

I don’t mind admitting that I’m terrified of what this will all lead to. In the words of one great songwriter, as expressed by the singer Edwin Starr:

“War — what is it good for? Absolutely NOTHING!”

What haunts me the most about what I suspect is about to unfold, is that pretty soon, people everywhere will be talking about what’s going on, and end up choosing a side, but in war, there are no winners.

  • I don’t want to catch myself writing or even thinking about what NATO or the United States should or could do. I imagine whatever they do to show aggression will possibly lead to more bloodshed, in spite of their intentions.
  • I don’t want to jump on the bandwagon, in support of only the people of Ukraine and what will happen to them.
  • I want to remain the kind of person who worries about the people of Russia as well, and any other group of people that will be caught up as collateral damage. Just because governments choose to go to war, doesn’t mean people do.

That’s the reason I’m so worried about Putin’s declaration of war, and what the response from President Biden and the NATO organization will ultimately be. Are things heading to another world wide war?

Even before it gets to that point, I can see we’re all in trouble. How will people anywhere, be able to avoid the mental affects that come from another massive loss of lives, after all we’ve been through with COVID?

Are we ready for the kind of interruption of our daily routines again that we’ll eventually be facing?

What happens to the supply chain for the world, once the real fighting begins? Get ready for fights in the streets, more crime and destruction of property, when things begin to really get heated.

These are even things that could take place even if the world doesn’t go to war, but things become even more escalated with Russia.

Keep in mind, people everywhere will have a viewpoint so not everyone will be able to agree. The various solidarity groups on either side of the issue will form, and the divisions between people will continue to grow.

Why? Because in spite of which side is right or wrong, people on both sides are constantly dying. That’s how war goes.

The governments declare war, but it’s the people who end up suffering and paying the price.

In the famous words of singer Marvin Gaye:

“War is hell. When will it end?”

Do I have a solution to what’s going on with Russia and Ukraine, or for the rest of this messed up world? No. I only know that relying on the same old tactics of resorting to war, that is clearly not the answer.

I don’t know about the rest of you, but I’m worried as fu*k!
