How Vice President Mike Pence Was Convinced To Certify The Election
He had considered not going before Congress.
It is the job of the Vice President to certify the election.
After there is an election held for President of the United States of America, the election results are certified before Congress. The Vice President of the previous administration has the duty to do the certification.
Vice President Mike Pence led the joint session of Congress on January 6, 2021, to certify Joe Biden as the winner of the November 2020 election to become President of the United States. Sources have indicated that Trump requested or demanded that Pence not certify the election.
Apparently, Pence was considering not going to Congress to do the certification. He became convinced by his son that it was his duty.
Trump supporters stopped the process when they stormed the U.S. Capitol as Congress was in session. Pence later finished the certification with Congress after the rioting had been controlled.
Vice President Mike Pence stood by Trump for the four years in The White House. He was the one who had political experience where Trump did not. He is a deeply religious man with high moral standards of honesty and integrity, which Trump does not appear to have. He had been a proven conservative leader in government, which Trump was not.
A story by Madison Hall for Insider had the title of: “Mike Pence told investigators he originally planned to skip the electoral certification on January 6 before his son convinced him otherwise.”
Mike Pence oversaw the congressional certification of the presidential election on January 6, 2021.
A new report says he didn’t plan to attend it. His son convinced him otherwise.
“You took the same oath I took,” Lt. Michael J. Pence reportedly told his father.
Lt. Michael J. Pence is the second son of former Vice President Pence. He earned his commission in the United States Marine Corps.
Trump is being investigated for an alleged plan to overturn the results of the Presidential election. He continues to claim that the election was stolen from him. He has not conceded that he lost. He filed multiple lawsuits to protest the election results, but the election was deemed to be fair.
Vice President Pence decided in the end to follow his son’s advice and do his duty as he had taken an oath to do when he became Vice President. It was “An oath to support and defend the Constitution.”
Pence may have not wanted to go against the wishes of his then “friend,” but he stood up to him in the end when he did his duty to certify the election.
Although Pence did campaign to become the 2024 Republican nominee for President against Trump and others, he dropped out of the race at the end of October. He would seem to have been the most qualified and experienced of all the Republican candidates, but he dared to go against his former boss.
