How Unbelievably Powerful Can a Single Word Be?

Could it really be that simple to expand our human limits?

HAPPINESS + WEALTH ⭐recently challenged readers to choose a word of the year to get their creative juices flowing.

It’s a lovely list, with words like kindness, joy, better, happiness, and more.

But I chose a different word. One I think can be used in many ways any day of the week.

That word is:

BE.

That’s it. It’s certainly easy to spell and easy to use. “Be” can also be used to inspire us as writers, and also as human beings.

I’ve already used the word five times. Yes, I had to count.

As a standalone word, well, there’s nothing there. It’s just two letters: B. E.

But that word can be powerful and inspirational when paired with other words.

Be kind if you know of a person or family going through a difficult time.

Be happy if life is coming up roses for you. It doesn’t happen too often for many people.

Be forgiving if someone dismisses you without a thought, as though you’re not worthy of their time. They might be (there’s that word again) going through difficult times.

Be grateful for all you have, no matter how little you might think you have. I promise you, there’s someone out there in a more difficult situation. Maybe a kind word will help that person get to another day.

Here’s an example:

You may be all that stands between life and death.

So, be good with all you can do.
