4. What job are you doing? Possibly there are interesting experiences you’ve got to share with others
5. Write about what your goals are and how you will approach them
You’ll find the button “ Write “ on the site where you’ve created your account through my link; you’ll find the button “Write.”
Click on it, and you’re on the blank page to start writing your first post. I’ve set you up for Medium because it’s simple, fast, with limited distractions, and that’s what you need to get started with your writing.

# Don’t be afraid to hit the publish button;
it took me a few months before I finally started to hit “Publish.” Look, nobody, or at least almost nobody, will read your first posts anyway. It’s more important to get stories out there; you’ll become better when you start to publish more.
Okay, let’s go then,
You’ve chosen the subject by now, so.
Write your headline.
Step two: Your headline
Make your headline as attractive as a magnet! Use large size text. To create Articles or posts, you can bend the rules a bit to your needs.
That means If you want to play with Capital Letters At The Beginning Of Each Word, For Instance, You Can Use Tricks Like This To Attract people’s attention. You don’t have to, but you can play with things like this and become creative!
A great tip is to pull the people’s emotional triggers; you’ll need this to acquire clicks and reads!
There are two motives to action:
Self-interest and fear.”
- Napoleon Bonaparte-
Asking questions within a headline is often used method. And ask yourself the next question:
“Would I click on this title if I read it?”
If yes, great. If not, reconsider and change! Perhaps ask people nearby what they think of the title. Let them help sculpt a great headline.
Headlines are very important to attract attention, so spend enough time on it the and have it good.
There are many more tips and tricks. Here are three:
- Give people a reason to act
- Build curiosity
- Carry the load of explaining your product and what it will do for them.
But we want to get you going and continue.
So write a headline that suits your topic, do this now on the blank page of the site you have the stand open. It doesn’t need to be perfect; you can still edit a bit later on.

Done?
Great, let’s move on and create a sub-header now.
Step three: Select sub-headline
You may want to write a sub-headline. Especially when you want to build more curiosity, this can come In handy.
What makes copywriting different from regular writing? It’s your intention.
What is your purpose when you’re writing?
Do you want to entertain?
Are you trying to convey information only, or do you want people to take some specific action?
Blog posts are copywriting.
Facebook posts are copywriting Instagram posts are copywriting. Medium posts are copywriting. Even memes are copywriting if you use them in certain ways. Writing copy is something that sells, something which attracts people’s curiosity.
Curiosity seems to be a lot more important than it was. I think that’s linked to the amount of time you do and don’t have to get and keep people’s attention. So you’ve got to be faster to stimulate people and pull them in. You also have to get to the point quicker.
Often a subheadline is a questioning phrase that raises curiosity. Just make sure it’s relevant to your post or article’s essence.
Think of which question would make you wonder or curious about what you’re writing, and write it as your subheadline.
Do this now.
Done?

That’s great. Let’s move on and select your desired image.
Set your free Image
A great picture or image does a lot. With an attractive headline and subheader, Your image will increase those magnetizing forces that pull a reader to your posts.
Before selecting an image, you might want to think about what will suit best for your post. Always think as if you were the reader, so what image would have the best magnetic effect which suits the headline?
Think about one…
Got it?
Knowing what to pick before you start searching will save you time. Image sites are often overwhelming and therefore emphasize distractive force on you. You don’t want to spend more than 3 minutes searching for a good image.
Here are some sites to get free images; possible there are more, but these are the ones I often use:
· Pexels
· Unsplash
· Pixabay
· Your own images
Type in the search box the name of what you got in mind, and download an image you like.
Don’t forget to copy the photographer’s name, which you can then add underneath the image that you’ve uploaded in your post.
On Medium, where you are, you just press the + sign on your post.

And select the camera image to upload the image you’ve just downloaded or another picture.

The great quality pictures are payable. Still, you’ll find heaps for free as well. You don’t need to pay for your images to get you started. As you become more professional at writing, you can consider if paying for quality images will provide value.
Additionally, if you have great photographer skills, you could even set up an account on one of these sites and charge for your own feet while combining them for your posts. The choice is yours.
While you are in your initial writing process, you’ll notice that more doors will appear as writing holds many diverse and creative routes, which are interconnected to the writing process as a whole.

Assuming you’re done, let’s start with your outline!
The Outline
An outline is an ordered list of the main points of your essay. Outlining helps you define and organize your topic and subtopics to bring the reader on a logical journey from your thesis, through your supporting evidence, to your conclusion.
In a nutshell:
An outline is a self-chosen structure that lines out the boundaries of your post or article. I see a lineout as a micro-discipline that will succeed over time.
An outline example that creates curiosity:
1. Explain and deliver the clear answer
2. Define the why (Like I’ve made you do at the beginning of this post)
3. The controversial story
4. Disclosure of benefit
5. Short gratitude phrase
Another short outline example:
1. Story (Make a connection to your reader)
2. Problem/solution (present the essence of your post)
3. Study, example, or Quote (Proof for the reader)
4. Takeaway summary
5. Afterword, disclosure and or gratitude phrase

You could just copy these into your post and add your own writing to get going quickly. Again you have room to play with this outline as required. You could even make it a 3-rule outline, implement more elements, or add more quotes.
It’s your post; you decide what works best for you. This idea presented here is just to get you started quickly. There are some tricks that you’ll discover later that you can use within your writing to attract your reader’s attention even more and keep them reading. But as for now,
Copy one of these two example line-outs below the image you’ve just selected, and voila, your post is lined out. Now fill in what you want to tell about your chosen topic. Do this with a few phrases. Try to write 3–7 sentences underneath every title.

Quick tips:
- One of the quickest ways to kill your motivation is to know too much before sitting down to type. Having an outline can be helpful until it isn’t. Therefore it’s best to keep it short.
- You can do some research through a searching engine about your desired topic, copy some useful or relevant information into the post (just to have your idea triggered), change the words or sentences in how you would tell best, or eliminate the nonsense… Again you can be creative. By doing this more often, you’ll find a way that suits you best.
The benefit of doing this are two.
First, it reduces the words you need to type.
Secondly, it magnifies (or triggers) your mind’s awareness of the topic you are writing about, and the chances are that suddenly words flow out of your mind easier. It will set you off to write about what you wanted to tell through your entire post.
Since you’ve written your post by now, there are a few last things to do before pressing “Publish.”
Three things which you do best before pressing “publish.”
There are a couple of things you might want to do before publishing your post online.
1. Call for assistance
Depending on your level of writing and whether or not the language you are writing in is your native language, you may want to spell-check your writing or improve it a bit. Here are three easy ways to do so:
· Copy past your writing in a word doc and spell-check and or translate
· Hemmingway editor app or site
Check it out for yourself and see what suit your needs best. I use Grammarly, for which I pay a small monthly fee because even while writing for free. I see this as a small investment in my writing process. Often I am surprised by the mistakes I still make, so in that sense, it doesn’t hurt to use assistance for your writing.

2. Check if everything that you’ve written still correlates with your headline
Often it happens when you start to write that the more you write, the further you derive from the essence. You might want to check if your headline still presents what you tell throughout your post to get things right.
Keeping your headline in eye-sight while writing your post can help to prevent this.
3. Perform the last sentence check
But you got me using those spell-check and edit tools already. That’s correct. Still, these are assisting AI measures, and they are not 100% bulletproof. That’s why they function as assistance.
Read your post again quickly; often, you’ll spot one or two mistakes that make your sentence sound wired. That’s because a robot function helped you out.
Reading out loud helps in this case! If you don’t like to read out loud, no problem. Medium recently added a listen-to function, enabling you to have your post proofread from an AI voice (it doesn’t sound too bad). It can really help you out in that sense.

#Bonus tip
Read a lot and read applicable content for what you are writing about.
A few books which are great for improving the advertising of your articles:
- Seducing Strangers by Josh Weltman Scientific
- Breakthrough Advertising by Eugene Schwartz
- Advertising Secrets of the Written Word by Joe Sugarman
Aside from reading books about writing, I strongly advise you to start with reading books like:
“Atomic Habits” by James Clear and “The Compound Effect” by Darren Hardy.
Both books aren’t about writing per se.
Nevertheless, those books’ fundamental ideas could help you gain better insight to improve your writer’s journey.
Your takeaway
Writing…
I never thought I would become a writer. Your location or whom you surround yourself with has a huge effect on you. Therefore using my initial link to the Medium platform will allow you to sit in a writer’s environment. I learned a lot from being there, and for sure you’ll gain a lot of knowledge and experience.
I’ll tell you more; I am the last person in the world who would see himself writing so much. Still, I am here together with you. And it’s all because I put myself in that writer’s environment.
Do I regret it?
Hell, no.
I should have started sooner.
Writing has offered me a solution to free my mind. The steps look huge when you are not surrounded by writers in your circle of friends and family. Evermore, it might not even cross your mind!
People who can write, express, share and explore their minds with many others around the globe are treated with respect.
Everyone is a writer; we all send heaps of messages, emails, tekst on posts… Most of us write on our jobs daily, whether it’s a meeting paper or a handover, a report or an order you have to make, it all requires you to become a writer.
But often, we don’t consider ourselves a writer, and surely now that I have started to write more often, there is a difference.
Like with everything in life, great writing doesn’t come just like this. The more you practice, the better you’ll get at it. I was never good at writing nor at reading. Nowadays, I feel like I can’t live without.
Writing for me became an extension of my physical exercise routine. These days I mix the two up a bit, and both of them keep me on the consistency track. (Maybe an idea for you to alternate between the two.)
What I’ve just mentioned here could already serve as a short post, written in 5 minutes. Just to give you an example of how fast you are on your way to post short articles.
I’ll like to close this one by:
The God Of Writing
In ancient times the elusive planet Mercury was known under various names such as Nabu, Thoth, Hermes, Apollo, Buddha, and more. Sumerians studied Mercury about 5000 years ago and named Mercury after the god of writing Nabu.
The Babylonians succeeded the Sumerian civilization, a culture that inherited writing, astronomy, and mathematics from the Sumerians. Early Babylonian astronomers (2000–1000 B.C.) may have recorded their sky observations. Although no records from that period have survived, tablets from the 7th century B.C. refer to observations of Venus supposedly made much earlier, during King Ammisaduqa (1702- 1682 B.C.) We also know that from 800 BC onwards, the Babylonians cataloged stars, kept records of solar eclipses and the time intervals between new moons, and were able to predict some astronomical phenomena.
The Babylonians named Mercury after their divinity Nebo or Nabu — the record keeper, god of writing, and messenger to the gods. As Mount Sinai in Egypt is named after the Babylonian moon god Sin, Mount Nebo, in present-day Jordan, is named after the Babylonian god of the planet Mercury. Mercury was associated with both sexes in Babylonian astronomy because of its appearance as both an evening and a morning star.
Later Babylonian civilizations (600 B.C. — 200AD) were more advanced in mathematics and astronomy. Their catalog of the stars forms the basis of our zodiac. They also made detailed observations of the movements of the five visible planets, including Mercury.
Mercury was called “Buddha” in ancient India.
Astronomers in ancient India believed that the location of the planets in the sky at the time of birth determined a person’s future. The Hindus called the planets collectively “Nava Graha,” and their references can be found on temple markings.
- Ancient Chinese called Mercury Chen Xing
- Ancient Egyptians called Mercury — Thoth the great measurer
- In ancient Greece, Mercury was known under two different names — Apollo and Hermes
- The Mayas believed Mercury was just as important as the Sun
I mean,
“Writing has existed forever; it can cross from the invisible quantum barrier over into the mechanical world of perception…”
