How to Write Great Fiction — Tip 2
Save some of the good stuff for tomorrow
Save some of the good stuff for tomorrow.
This was a suggestion that I was given years ago by a fellow writer. I didn’t give it much credence at the time, but in the years to follow, I’ve tested its validity many times. IT WORKS!
What that means in practice is this. Write the scene, pages, or chapter you want to finish for that day up until the climax, hook, or closing. Then STOP. Don’t finish it yet.
Knowing what’s coming next is the very best way to begin tomorrow. It works as a catalyst to get you off to a good start each day and effectively eliminates writer’s block.
I’m glad I was given this advice which is probably used by a lot of good writers. I hope you’ll find it helpful, as well.
