How to Write for High-Performance Lifestyle on Medium
We’d Love to Have you Join our Community of High-Performers!

First off, I want to personally like to thank you for your interest in the High-Performance Lifestyle publication.
Our publication is a space for anyone looking to reach a higher level of performance, in whatever way that looks for them.
What this usually boils down to is a systematic improvement in certain skills that promote sustained excellence. Or as I like to say, skills designed to enhance all aspects of a high-performance life.
“A high-performance life is the intentional application of focus, energy, physicality, mindset, emotional intelligence, creativity, and personal effectiveness in a way that optimizes performance and produces uncommon results.” — HPXL
Some of the things I personally like to focus on encompassing what I like to call the MCD Universe: Mindset. Character. Discipline. For me, these are the core components of an integrated life moving toward a destination.
On this path, hardships are sought out. Failure is encouraged. Mental training is commonplace and discipline is practiced daily. Just to be clear, I did not come up with these ideas all on my own. They are echoes of the world’s greatest. The strong men and women that have come before me and those that are still doing it today. I read about them. I study their actions and behaviors. I try to dissect the very thing that has allowed them to become an uncommon person, and then I write about it. It is how I reflect, my form of meditation, and how I create flow in my life. If you are willing, a similar opportunity awaits you.
“This book is not about a one-hour daily workout. That’s the easy part. The challenge is living a high-performance lifestyle the other twenty-three hours. That’s what it takes to be an elite performer.” — from Every Day is Game Day by Mark Verstegen, founder of EXOS
Official Submission Guidelines for the Medium Publication High-Performance Lifestyle
Please make sure all the following guidelines are met before submitting for review:
- Submissions must be tagged with one of the following: Mindset, Discipline, Psychology, Leadership, Business, Entrepreneurship, Fitness, Nutrition, Self Improvement, Habits, and/or Book Club if the content is about a book or based on one.
- Anything tagged with Book Club will be featured in the “Book Club” section at the top of the publication. We do this to give writers an opportunity to feature their favorite books and provide book reviews/summaries for the community.
- We will also have a “featured” section at the top of the publication with stories hand-picked by the editors for their unique insights, quality of work, and relevance to living a high-performance lifestyle. These stories will be featured for at least a week and be included in the weekly email newsletter. This is a great opportunity to showcase your best work!
- Ensure all stories adhere to Medium’s formatting guidelines. Stories should include a featured image with proper attribution. Although there are no additional formatting guidelines, please keep it simple and easy to read. We will make edits for grammar, spelling, and formatting as needed, but we do not intend to change anything beyond that.
- If we do not accept your submission, we will tell you why and give you an opportunity to make corrections.
- We only accept submissions in draft form for many of the reasons mentioned above.
- Finally, be respectful and thoughtful to others. We encourage interaction and with that comes disagreement, which is okay. What is not okay is inappropriate language of any kind, bullying, harassing, or acting out in any way. If you can’t find it in you to argue in a civilized manner, just do nothing instead. It’s better for you and everyone else involved. You can refer to Medium’s rules if you have additional questions.
