Writing is tough, but with practice, it becomes automatic and easy. You can write about anything. You can glean non-stop new ideas from your thinking, surroundings, online, and almost anything.

Finding an idea is the easy part. The hardest part is to turn those ideas into a structure that carries your message and do some good to others and you too.

If an idea turned article doesn’t add value to others (solve their problems or increase their knowledge and information) and bring you a name or some financial rewards, you didn’t express the idea well.

I blame you for not delivering enough into turning ideas into full-fledge articles, not the ideas.

However, when you learn how to successfully put your ideas in a structure, let’s say an article, you automatically put value in it that does good to you (earns you money) and others (changes their lives) in a certain way.

This is what I have learned after writing for two years online. I learned that you don’t need to go viral to earn a lot. You just need to be earning every month and with your piece of writing.

These methods have the potential to make your article viral too. So, it depends on your luck whether you go viral.

Write in a famous niche

Sticking to a favorite niche has the potential to establish your brand and earn you good money. However, I don’t recommend it strictly.

You can write on wider topics and still be successful.

I write about my favorite books, history, writing, earning, and relationship. These are the dominant niche I cover most of the time. But it doesn’t mean I don’t write in other niches.

I mostly look at the topic and its idea. If it interests me, I research it and write an article on it.

This trend has helped me learn about many niches and given me diverse writing experience. Writing in a different niche also helps me get more followers, which means earning more money.

Edit your article’s SEO settings

On Medium, you don’t need SEO much because Medium saves you the hassle of ranking on the first page.

Still, we can’t neglect the importance of SEO settings. Medium has provided these settings for a purpose. Otherwise, we wouldn’t have such features on the platform.

By making a perfect SEO setting, you get a chance to rank first on Google, which has many monetary and social benefits.

A client may read your ranked work and may assign you a long-term contract. You also get a wider reach on search engines that may increase your referral members.

I always do SEO of my articles. This method enables my articles to get more traction on the Google search engine. It also helps me get more internal views, and the more your internal views and reads, the more you earn money.

I use the Alt feature on the pictures I use in articles

The Alt feature serves your articles most similarly to the SEO. It tells your reader who and how the picture is related to the content you have created.

It also boosts your presence because people who will be using the keywords you have used in the Alt texts will find your articles easily.

I use the Alt text on all the pictures I put into my articles. I copy-paste my title on the featured image Alt option.

Use relevant tags

Tags are very important when it comes to virality. If you want to get a wider reach, you must learn to use tags properly. You must know what tags are relevant to your story.

I use tags differently.

I use two famous tags and three new tags which are relevant to my article.

Tags help you reach the targeted audiences. When someone searches, for example, ‘history’ in the tag bar in search engines, your articles would appear if you have used the tags properly.

So, properly tag your articles to get more views and reads and earn more money.

Submit your article to relevant publications

There are hundreds of publications on the platform. You can join any publication as a contributor and write for them as long as your writing is relevant to their themes.

However, there are certain publications owned by Medium, such OneZero, Elemental, Zero, etc., that don’t accept writers directly now. But they are constantly searching for good stories that are relevant to them.

But other publications are created by writers themselves, and they are actively looking for good writers who can deliver value to their audiences.

Submitting your articles to publications is to get quick and easy exposure to a larger chunk of audiences interested in your niche.

Publications make it easy for the writers and readers to come together without searching for each other.

Again, if your story is of greater quality, you get featured in that specific publication which helps your story be seen by more audience for a longer time.

So, a long time of exposure leads to more views and reads that, in turn, earn you more money.
