How To Use Social Media to Promote Your Stories
Writing stories gives me a fulfilling feeling. All feelings I have I will write down. And as a writer, you want to be recognized and you want your stories to be read. When you’re a book writer, your book will be published with a publisher and they will promote your work.
One way to promote your stories is by writing blog posts and social media posts. In these times, you have to be recognizable online and be on social media. It could be time-consuming, but it is worth it how much reward you get.
Every day you’re writing your stories with so much blood and sweat. You see your stats from your stories and you think: ‘How can I do this better? What did I do wrong?’.
Well, let’s say that social media helps to promote your stories. I know, it sounds weird, but I hate marketing. I also know promoting your stories increases your stats. I also hate talking about it. In this way I’m a little bit shy, I guess.
Where do you start with promoting your stories with all your social media accounts? Indeed, there are so many! Here are a few I use and I will mention a few I think I will use in the future to promote my stories. I realise that I’m not really good at promoting my stories. So, I have to be consistent and not losing this habit.
I’m using now: Twitter Facebook Tumblr LinkedIn
How to use Twitter
Twitter is a platform you use to let know your thoughts or show what keeps you busy with your audience. You use it for daily things like doing the laundry or whatever you’re doing that day and typing that. Or you can use it for your daily political discussions. Another way is to share articles you love. In this case, you can use these 140 character platform to show your work to your digital audience.
How to use Facebook
Facebook is also a popular social media platform. You can write more characters than then using Twitter. You can add up to 30 pictures if you want to. You also can ask to be in writers group as much as possible to promote your stories.
How to use Tumblr
Tumblr is a little bit similar to Facebook. Only it has the ability of a blog platform. You can add photos and texts as much as possible. You can repost other blog posts and you can add more ‘sites’ or blogs as much as you like.
How to use LinkedIn
LinkedIn is a business network site. You can ask colleagues, friends and family to be in your network. Besides that, you can add more people if you think they are worth being a network. There are groups for writers (any kind) to promote your work or just to network. I am in a few where I promote my posts. Not every post, but the one I believe are worth sharing.
I’ll use these ones in the future: Pinterest Reddit Instagram WeHeartIt
Pinterest is an image-sharing board. When you love a dress you saw online, you can share it to Pinterest to a board you love or you created. You can add as many boards as you like. For writing, you can make a board for each platform you write on with all the stories and articles you wrote. I also should make a general board with general interest everyone would come to visit your account.
Reddit is a mysterious platform, I believe. You can share your thoughts and your stories in a post. Furthermore, I haven’t noticed anything besides being in groups. This is thus a great platform for sharing your stories.
Instagram is a photographed social media where you can add your photos with stories. I have started a mini website (not from Instagram) you can use with making online on your phone a website with parts of your stories. This website link is addable to your bio link on your Instagram page. Each time there will be a new story, I’ll add the picture to my feed to promote my stories.
WeHeartIt
WeHeartIt is a little bit the same as Instagram. You can share your stories as a picture with a description of your posts. Give your post the right tags. Also, you can make boards with whatever you like. There is also a possibility to write blog posts. Most people on this platform are students. So, note that when you write stories.
